4th visit but this is the first time I felt fully prepared to review. This visit was the best ever food wise I have to say.
I started with the 'Hot Chicken' - pieces of succulent meat in a 'hot' tomato and onion based sauce. I'm a Madras eater and I can tell you that the spices on this starter were spot on, tingle on the lips was felt following eating and the portion size was just right leaving you wanting more.
For my main course I ordered Keema Rice, Keema Naan, chicken 'tikka' Madras and Saag poneer as a side dish.
The rice was outstanding, not greasy and not dry - probably the best balanced Keema Rice I have ever had. The Naan was also very good, again neither too moist or too dry, spot on, not overstuffed or over large, just right. The Saag Poneer was also perfect the right balance of crispy cheese chunks, spinach and sauce. The Madras was perfect for me and what I believe (and it's always subjective) the perfect Madras heat. The chicken was just right with no hard chewy chunks - just good quality Tikka chunks in a Madras sauce.
I also had a very nice 'pre prepared' desert - it would be unfair to review that as they are usually bought in and supplied by s 3rd party.
There was a party of 5 of us and without going into details on the other meals, everyone was equally impressed.
Other points to note is the great decor, clean car park, clean toilets, and some of the best 'indian restaurant' background music at just the right volume I have heard.
Ice cold Cobra beer was also fresh and refreshing. They also had Cobra IPA available which I was tempted to try - another time.
The staff (2 gentlemen on duty, one of which is the owner I believe) were well groomed, very attentive without being in any way overbearing.
After the meal we were offered commentary drinks- to add here, not the usual shorts, but anything from the bar, this was a king and generous gesture - it could have been that we were a large party, on a quiet night, so please don't expect it.
Value wise and without going into prices - it was good and fair.
We chatted with the owner briefly who informed us that they are based in Nottingham and opening another restaurant soon at Dunham on Trent right near the toll bridge. They deserve success with that venture and I will be checking it out at some stage.
5 stars from me no question.
Can recommend the vegetable dupiaza, a lovely selection of vegetables used and the spice level was exactly as I like it
Staff very friendly and accommodating
