Broadgate Launderette

Once a great, reliable laundrette, now, (in my opinion) somewhat average.

Since the lovely couple retired last year, the service wash along with the friendly customer service has gone.
On a several occasions there have been problems using the dryers and without staff on site anymore, you only have a mobile number (with no name but presumably the owner) noted on the walls, to contact and hope for some help.

I once witnessed a lady new to the area, who got her coin stuck in the dryer coin slot. She rang the mobile number and when the call ended, I asked if she was ok and she explained they weren't very helpful. So I got my nail file out, jiggled the slot a bit and got her coin out, along with a foreign coin that caused the jam. Simples! And she was greatful!

On the last occasion I went a couple months ago, I accidentally put my coins in someone else's dryer instead of mine. I contacted the mobile number by text and strangely the owner offered to post my refund, in their own time, through my letterbox that day, so I asked instead if I could return and get my refund at the end of business close. Something came up and I couldn't make it and text them an update to arrange meeting the next day. Having been previously advised by the owner, that they don't always arrive on time, the next day I arrived at 6.50pm and waited until about 7.45pm when someone (not the owner) arrived to lock up and give me my refund. The business time states open 7am til 7pm! When I expressed my unhappiness waiting without any update the owner was ignorant, stating they offered me an alternative and tried to put the blame on me.

It's the little things that make a (huge) difference. Basic principal and customer service you should receive from any business. No desire to return anytime soon and haven't since.

This launderette is ok, if you like mingling with a lot of students while you do your washing - as a last resort if you can't get to other launderettes....... Drying is ok, but the small washers could do with a deep clean themselves as they often smell mouldy, like they have bacteria in them...... Sorry.....

Not crowded and large machines for duvet washing

No chance to top up the washing machines with anything than 1 pound coin. The tumble drier can be topped up with 5 x 20 p as well, but the run lasts less than if 1 pound coin is used. No machines to exchange coins. The washing machines are ok

Good place for quick laundry

Very clean and very reasonably priced for a laundrette, great customer service. Clothes all cleaned and dry in no time, few shops nearby to grab a quick bite to eat. Very impressed

They've raised their price

Only one pound coins are accepted for the washing machine and at least 6 are needed, you have to prepare them ahead

It's very very warm inside

Place is not quite what it might be all machines work as they should,down side is the place is usually a bit scruffy with the door seals usually needs to be replaced on the dryers ,they’re there but sometimes have been pulled off by users and not replaced,also I’ve been on several occasions and there’s been 3/4 of the local homeless in there having a warm,I’ve got no real problem with them having a warm for an hour but they’re usually all smoking and drinking and on several occasions finish up falling out
