I went to gymnastics here and when I joined I liked it all the coaches let me do what I was comfortable with & didn’t force me to do anything.

However ,
Many months later the coaches started caring about us less and only focusing on the younger groups , which is fine, but I’m a person who gets hurt easily and not having anyone go through a proper warm up or stretch was awful , they needed to get us a coach but never did . I learned absolutely no skills from being here !!

If you’re thinking about sending a secondary school kid here , don’t !

Took my preschooler to the Tad Splash session this morning. Parking was a little hard to find - it's directly behind the building in a Council carpark that looks a bit like an alleyway, with spaces marked GL1. Two very helpful members of staff on a break directed me to it from the entrance (drive past if coming from Glos, then go left and left again) and also told me that you can get the parking reimbursed if you tear off the bottom of the ticket and hand it in to reception. There was a good selection of swimming kit to buy, and a buggy park just before the changing rooms.

The changing rooms for the Tad Pool are nice and big, with changing table, bench and child seat, but there aren't many of them and a couple of the coin-operated lockers were out of order so we had to leave our bag on top of them. My 3.5yo loved the pool but I was very glad I'd bought her armbands as the main attraction is a slide which leads into shoulder-deep water on a child, and it is literally impossible to drop your child off at the steps up and walk around to the bottom of it before they go down. She also loved the little fountains and bubble jets, and that it was deep enough in places for her to float and pretend to swim. I appreciated the seats along the edge!

Note, the changing rooms and pool were both very warm - not unpleasant normally, and would be perfect for smaller kids, but it was 36 degrees outside so very reasonable.

The café was lovely if a little worn, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! It’s a joke of an organisation. I’ve signed up for a membership and after the first week, trouble started. Happy to take direct debit every month but impossible to book classes and you resort to turning up and hoping there’s space as the phones almost always goes without being answered. WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. You’re better off anywhere else

If you want a great gym + swim facility in Gloucester this is it. They also have racquetball and workout classes and a sauna but I can’t speak to those as I stick to the gym/pool. You can rent lockers for £1 but you also get the £1 back when you put the key back, so it’s effectively free but you need to bring a pound coin. As someone who doesn’t like to carry my gym bag around but wants to quickly get ready at the gym this is great.

The swimming times are a bit scattered for adults, so do check the website. The pool is clean without smelling of chlorine, and is Olympic length. In the summer especially in afternoons/evenings it gets crowded and you can end up tailgating people in the lap lane.

The only other thing that isn’t great is how some of the kids in the pool/locker room in the afternoon can be very loud and obnoxious. Due to this I would recommend going in the early morning if you’re looking for a calmer workout experience, I’ve found it’s less busy overall.

The gym is great - the trainers are all quite friendly and can give advice if needed. The equipment is overall in really good condition and there’s enough machines and weights for everyone. Also no one’s ever bothered me/tried to strike up a conversation mid-workout or give unsolicited advice which, as a woman, I appreciate. (There is an all women gym as well…I’ve never used it as the mixed one works just fine).

Overall, I can strongly recommend GL1 - I’ve always found the staff to be respectful and efficient. The facilities are reasonably up to date (not flashy though) and clean. The prices are decent as well for what you’re getting, especially if you get the intro or multi month membership.

Best swimming coaching centre for kids.. mine one is in yellow team and the other one is in red team.. sometimes very rarely the coaches will not do the job properly...otherwise it is really good👍👍 fees is little bit high..im paying £45 for 45 mins...

Excellent facilities for swimming. My kid took her swimming classes here. Well maintained changing room and showers too. But the membership payments was maintained by DFC and for any changes you have to speak to Aspire and then DFC which was really irritating but otherwise I very much recommend GL1 Aspire.
