Fisherground Lodges

We are here on our honeymoon and due to leave tomorrow, we brought our two springer spaniels with us. We have been staying in wood bank lodge and I would highly recommend it. The lodge itself is very luxurious, on our arrival it was clean and had instructions etc for all the amenities. The lodge has a bath and shower combined and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils. The bed is comfortable and we have really enjoyed using the wood burner in the evenings and the television gets all freesat channels. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer in the barn which we've used once. The location is fantastic, it is quiet and there are plenty of walks to go on that vary in difficulty. We have eaten out in The Boot Inn which is about a mile and a half away and that was excellent, it is also dog friendly. Also relatively close by (8 miles) is wast water which is worth a visit and we have also been to Windermere which took about an hour to drive on some winding roads. There is a shop in Eskdale which stocks the essentials and we have had two deliveries from Tesco to the lodge. The railway was great, I would recommend taking a journey from one end to the other and the station cafe serves good food and also allows dogs downstairs. In conclusion we have really enjoyed our time here, I would gladly recommend to anyone seeking a relaxed break away from the hustle and bustle of normal life and we will be returning next year.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay and a wonderful area to see. We visited in autumn and the surroundings were stunning. The lodge itself had everything you needed and more. You can tell the owners have put extra care and attention into these lodges. Very impressed and will definitely be coming back!

A fabulous base for exploring the Western Lake District. The cabins are comfortable, cleaned and maintained to a high standard. Internet access is good, however mobile phone coverage limited which suits us in this quiet valley.

Great location for walks and a base to see the surrounding areas. You can catch the lal ratty from here (0 guage railway). We think the weekly costs aren't bad for the area. Pubs are a minimum 20minute walk(that is until the George re-opens which is 5minutes away) most do good food. If you like log cabins(also cottages) give it a try.

Typical lovely rural cottages. Beautiful surroundings. Close to miniature railway. Easy drive to Scafell Pike or harder walk. One downside is it rains, a lot.

Log cabins cottages or camping in a stunning location been coming for 30 yrs

Used to love this place but never again, turned the car round to accidently hit a rock and get stuck at night . To be greeted by two people who identified themselves as wardens, accused me of being drunk, ruining their garden and being very very rude and in our faces.
Claimed they knew the owner and went beserk. Didn't seem to acknowledge it was an honest mistake and it was my own car that was damaged.
The shining of torches in faces and overall aggression was laughably over the top for what was an accident. That interestingly my insurers seem to believe the stones should of been painted white in any event.

Rude horrible staff ruining a once beautiful venue

If the owner is reading this, you may want to reconsider your hiring of the couple who are in your lodge closest to the house, stating they are acting on your behalf in such an aggressive angry manner. And on another note, one day they may choose to be overly aggressive with someone who may well be drunk and it may not end as well for them

Ideal base for a walking holiday, Lots of great walking trails for all abilities.
The accommodation was spacious and well set out inside. And surrounded with well kept grassed area.
