Some of the staff at the desk are rude and have bad manners.
1 The first time I phoned I was "first in the queue" for about 30 minutes and I gave up. First waste of time.
2. On my first appointment, only two of my items that I need for my diabetes care were added to my repeat prescription (I did not find this out till I tried to order other essential items - see number 3 below). I was also told that I could not have a repeat prescription for my migraine tablets until I have a blood test (fair enough, but annoying as I've taken them for years now). I was told to book a nurses appointment for the blood test, but then when I turned up for the appointment the nurse told me she couldn't do blood tests and I'd have to go to the walk in centre, which is in the same building but was closed for the day - another waste of time - and I had to waste more time going back for the walk in blood test.
3. I finally received my online access to order repeat medication (which was promised within a few days but took weeks (lucky I'm savvy enough to have overstocked on my medication before I moved from my old doctor), on the first time I went to use it I found that I could not order them as they were not on the list. I rang the reception to ask if they could be added and was told I would need yet another doctors appointment to get them - yet another waste of both my time and a GP's time.
I really like to give people the benefit of the doubt as I know the NHS is overstretched and people work hard, but this is just inefficiency, red tape and incompetence.
I wish I had registered at another practise.
PS - the reception staff also talk over you on the phone. Bad manners.
Firstly I am suffering and need to see my doctor now, not in a months time. Secondly, I cannot afford to keep taking mornings off work to try and make an appointment only to fail.
They need a new system as this is not working.
The Drs are ok the staff is nice the medical nurses are odd (she was telling me on my check up I don't want an other child within 3 years, as I need time with my baby... :-O despite this the guy is really nice and sweet with kids )
If you could I wouldn't use them.
I think some of the more negative reviews are for the General Practice/GP's/Medical Practice and not Kingston Hospital Outpatients.
