A GP practice which is greedy and customer service which could be improved with all the extra side income!

Wanted to link my child to NHS covid app for the pass needed for travel. There is an option to do proxy by requesting the GP. Apparently it takes upto 7 days to process which is a very straight forward process. Totally understand during these times, the resources may not be enough. Hence requested for a certificate for COVID pass.

To my surprise, I was informed that it will be £85.00 to print a COVID pass from the system which will be signed by a doctor. This is the most ridiculous charge you can think of especially GP services are a service to the community. I can understand if you charge a fee for the inconvenience but with all the information in front of you which takes probably less than 5 minutes with all the administration involved.

Small comparison here- technically they are charging if you calculate per certificate charging based on a 5 minute job, it will be £1020 per hour ( 1 pass @ £85- 12 certificates per hour- £1020). This is way more than the top consulting firm charge for their clients PER HOUR! And GP Service is supposed to be a service hub for the community.

Pathetic to even have the audacity to claim to be the pillar of the community when you are shameless in charging such an extortionate money from the citizens.

I'm sure the response will be there is lot of work involved in printing a certificate but please do not bother. This is pure EXTORTION for the HAPLESS citizens who do not have any option other than to comply!

SHAME ON YOU ALL...

Bursted Wood surgery has gone down hill since the end of covid.
The receptionists are not helpful at all ie you are in the queue on the phone and you get to number 1 and they hang up so you have to start again.
When you get through and tell them your prescription is not at the chemist which the GP promised to send at the end of your consultation they do not seem to want to know or care.
Come on Burstedwood sort your selves out and get your reputation back.

This surgery is fantastic. I needed a chest X-ray today and it was organised within 5 minutes and followed up with a phone call to check on me from Advanced Clinical Paramedic, Michael Hutchings. He has helped me and my son so much. Such a professional, compassionate man. I have been registered with Bursted Wood for 13 years and have ALWAYS been able to talk to or see a doctor, nurse practitioner or a nurse. The reception staff have also always been polite and helpful. My children have always been seen in an emergency. E-consultation forms are simple and straightforward. Most likely get a call back the same day. I am so grateful that we have this surgery locally and I thank them all for their hard work and resilience.

The standards at Bursted Woods have really gone downhill over the past few years. Almost impossible to get face to face appointments, took a lot of requests to get referred to specialists resulting in missing cancer diagnosis. The surgery doesn’t seem to be in the same page as the rest of the clinicians I have dealt with during my treatments. Emails to surgery from cancer clinics requesting prescriptions were missed. Unable to get prescription for medication requested by clinic until I had been seen by GP yet first face to face appointment would have been 3 weeks after the initial request delaying the medication being issued and adding to the discomfort I was feeling. And how long is a reasonable time to wait for a doctor to make a prearranged phone consultation 30 minutes, an hour, a day? I appreciate they are busy and schedules fall behind but they don’t seem to appreciate that the patient also has a schedule and cannot just hang around waiting for the phone call. Patients get criticised for being late to appointments but what about the other way around?

Bursted wood surgery is not only professional and efficient but very friendly. I have had many doctors surgeries in the past that have been rude and not conducted themselves in the correct manner especially the receptionists. However all of their staff at Bursted wood are so friendly and are always happy to help it’s actually taken me aback and I’m sad that I didn’t join them sooner. The vaccine service is very well organised and they are doing a great job keeping others safe during this difficult time. Thanks all, your doing a wonderful job.

The GP surgery can have bit of improvement and staff training overall, I have had unpleasant experiences, to say the least.

- Once been, staff tried to administer a vaccine with out wiping the area for disinfection, However coming from medical background, I was quick enough to advise.

- Their phone line says book appointment online, if you need urgent appointments and over the phone appointments are given week advance. when I make a booking online, I was given a appointment 10 days after.

- Also Three of the last e-consultations I had was with other GP services, Bursted Wood Surgery outsourced to other practices. if I need this, I might as well registered with another practice, I guess! I think they already have registered more than their capacity, trying to increase revenue!

- However They do have few really helpful receptionists, and few wouldn't even willing to help patients and rude, let alone happy to speak. I feel like this practice is like a outdated public office.

Overall this place could do with serious staff training and manners.
I HAVE LEFT THE SURGERY NOW, so hopefully it will help new and existing patients.

Recently I’ve had to visit the surgery with regards to my 2 small children on two separate occasions, the service I received from the new GP Michael Hutchings has been outstanding. He was very knowledgeable and extremely personable. Explained in detail the diagnosis and treatment. Making time to understand my concerns and didn’t feel like anything was too much. A complete breathe of fresh air. So thank you, a real asset to Bursted Wood.
Also like to recognise and thank the receptionist who was working today, as she was also very nice and helpful.

Never dealt with such a rude, unhelpful Surgery. Recently moved to the area and it wasn't easy leaving my previous surgery because of the amazing service they had always given but we joined here and we have been unhappy from the get go. They have not given the correct advice for our newborn baby and it has felt like we are going round in circles time and time again. I had a telephone appointment the other day and the Dr yawned down the phone! My Wife had a telephone appointment today and the Dr said she better start saving to be referred and go private because he can't and then shouted at her..all this surgery cares about is saving money. Save yourself the agrivation and join a different surgery, Google give better advice and customer service than this place.
