Appalling surgery!

I have just moved to the area and was hoping to settle and ask around for a good surgery but unfortunately my NEWBORN fell ill so I needed one ASAP I was very reluctant to use these as the reviews are awful, unfortunately the reviews proceed them.

I was told to come 10 minutes early to register myself and children, soon as I walked through the door there was a huge cue full of people tutting and huffing, when I got to the desk I told them about our earlier conversation about moving to the area and needing to register my family, but was the handed one temporary resident form?

With the first impression I was actually glad and thought I would try them first before signing the whole family up, I was told by the receptionist Laura that the female doctor my son was to see was ruining A BIT behind.

Half an hour later I heard a patient on the phone complaining on the phone that she has been now waiting an hour for her appointment and there was still another patient in front of her, I asked reception how many were before my son as I didn’t have my babysitter for much longer and had already been waiting half an hour past my appointment time, he said there was another 4 patients in front of my son, how is that a small wait! That’s at least another 40 minutes! An hour and 10 minutes (at least) late for an appointment is unacceptable, I told them to forget it, it would be much quicker in a&e! There attitude was, whatever with a smirk, not companionate, caring and understanding as a doctors surgery should be!

I didn’t get chance to see if the doctors were any better and I won’t get to, I certainly won’t be signing any of my family up for this joke of a practice, I suggest you retrain or replace your receptionists fast! They are patients first impressions of the surgery and it’s an awful one!

I lived in Abergele for 2 years with my husband and son, and we always felt well and timely attended every time we needed it. After one and a half year, I had a baby and was attended by the team (midwives, nurses, obstetricians, etc.) during my pregnancy and beyond. I went every Monday for baby massage with that nice and professional lady (health care), but I can't remember her name...Everybody was comprehensive and professional every time. My son (12 years old) had some minor problems and was attended the same day when we asked for appointments. I have nice memories and I attest to his professionalism and good attention from his staff. I got used to its proper functioning and now that we had to move we missed them a lot because not every GP works the same. Well done Gwrych Center. Keep in that way. We miss you.

To all of those that rate 1 star they need to have a look at them self and think where they are, its GP surgery and not Tesco or Asda where they can demand things as they pay and get what they want, its doctors that decide the treatment as they spent years of studying not them ( if they did than treat yourself). All of the staff in surgery are nice and lovely people, they try their best all the time and help as much as they can. They cover a lot of area and have 2 surgeries depending where you are but all share same doctors and nurses. They will do their best to accommodate people and fit around them if possible. Lovely place so ignore the 1 star bitter people that dont think of anybody but them self and cant follow simple rules. Now due to corona rules have changed but they are still there and have signs posted on what to do and how to contact them.

Absolutely fantastic! Dr McCormack saw me whilst I was on holiday nearby and he was great. Exceptional service from the reception staff through to treatment, making my stay in Wales a lot more comfortable. Thank you so much.

I would rate higher, but for one bad apple who seems to take pleasure in being as unhelpful and rude as possible. This is one of the clerical team, which in itself is odd, as her command of the English language and grammar leave a lot to be desired

The rest of the team are ALWAYS helpful, polite and cheerful. They genuinely seem happy to help.

Whilst still in covid measures, I have never struggled to speak to a GP if needed. They have also done face to face when necessary I've had to use the out of hours service once, and again, it was efficient and a God send at that time.

I'm a new patient and we had some teething problems at the start, but, as I've said, apart from one bad apple, it's a good surgery.

EXCELLENT SERVICE / Care . Seen the same day. I do have a serious chronic illness.

Must admit the receptionist both times I've rung has been extremely helpful. This was my first visit for my flu jab in a new practice I have registered with and as a very recently retired nurse I'm aware of the covid protocol. However the only thing I didnt find helpful was being called in by the HCA and her turning around and walking off with myself having to run after her to find the treatment room and barely a word said to me!i know she must be busy but a bit of patient nurse contact and a smile goes a long way. A shame really first impressions matter.

My son suffers from severe anxiety he had an appointment with the nurse Lyndsey today for blood & ECG.
I had the pleasure of my very anxious son being calmed with Lyndsey wonderful caring manner it was a relief to see him so much calmer.
Also, the GP I can't thank enough for the care shown to my son. an incredible surgery.
