The best place in London (if not the whole UK) for seeing documentary film. The dedicated screen at the Curzon Bloomsbury is initimate with great reclining leather seats. I've been coming to the DocHouse screenings for years and they never fail to be thought provoking, insightful and engaging. There are also regular directors Q&As after some premiers. Highly recommended!

Hands down, my favourite place in London. Everything I’ve seen at the Dochouse has been fascinating, educational and inspiring and the setting is just perfect. Intimate and peaceful, this lovely hidden away cinema has become a real place of refuge for me. Tasty nibbles and drinks are available on every floor of the cinema also. I thoroughly recommend the Dochouse to anyone seeking inspiration and an hour or so of calmness.

The Bertha Doc House is one of my favourite things about London. I always come out of the cinema feeling inspired and invigorated by their expertly curated documentaries - and always learn something new. During the COVID-19 pandemic the team have put an amazing amount of effort into providing online content, much of it free and many with Q&As from Directors, Producers and others. In a time where it is easy to feel devoid of culture and new things like the present the team behind the Doc House have really given me and so many others something so important. I cannot wait to return in person when it is safe to do so.

Love the DocHouse and that it exists.
Great films, comfy chairs. Only downside is that the screens aren't bigger so popular screenings sell out quick. During the pandemic they have put on an amazing range of online viewings and still foster the doc community in a positive way (also thanks to their whatsapp group).

I am not a documentary film buff, but I really enjoy watching them - so over the last few years Bertha DocHouse has become my place for discovery! During lockdown particularly the programming has been so good, with lots of Q&As as well as films, and they’ve been so inventive at making it a lively community. I’d recommend joining the WhatsApp group for their recommendations and to get updates on what’s on.

I can't wait for Bertha DocHouse to reopen, it's totally unique programming makes it one of the top cinemas in the capital. They have a really innovative programme of Q&A sessions too, which are a total joy. They have been unbelievably active during lockdown, the chat group they run is really active and the workshops, streaming and social events and creative competitions have been inspiring, I can't think of an arts organisation which has put in more effort. I went to the 'desktop docs' workshop this week and it blew me away. We desperately need more organisations like this during these dark time, inspiring, inclusive and empowering. Bertha DocHouse has been a vibrant cultural beacon in these challenging times and I feel so grateful to the team for their hard work and dedication.

I joined the Curzon because of the Bertha Dochouse and I love it. Get to see as many documentaries as I can. Wonderful selection of films and the cinema and surroundings are perfect. Curzon have just opened five new screens in Camden and I hope that the Dochouse will consider screening some of their films there. Perfect area for their audience. Here's hoping.

Easily one of London's best cinemas.
I had the pleasure of seeing 3 films in the Bertha Dochouse cinema in 2019, and enjoyed every single one. Not only is the selection of films incredible and reliable, but their curation of events featuring directors, journalists and commentators is brilliant too. The space has a great bar and snacks section, meaning (once reopened!) you can indulge yourself with a beer or wine from a "proper" glass during the film, as well as the staple tub of popcorn and packet of sweets.
As an introvert who likes to keep busy this cinema is a perfect evening destination - an easy pick when you just want to find something educational, inspiring, or interesting to do in the city. I can't wait to celebrate the end of lockdown with a visit to this venue, but while we all wait, their online presence has been keeping film buffs going, so check virtual screenings if you can't wait till summer!
