Ritz Cinema

Small old fashioned, 1920's ? Cinema with an upstairs & very friendly staff.
We watched ' Yesterday ' there , good quality picture & sound , no issues .

Looks lovely from the outside and cheap £6.00 per adult and for concessions and matinees £5.00. I have not been in, though looks good from the outside. Also one of the UKs oldest Independant cinemas.

I absolutely adore this place, the staff who volunteer are fabulous and friendly. The theatre, although small, is intimate and comfortable. Always super clean. Thirsk is lucky to have this gem.

Lovely old cinema. Run by volunteers who do a great job. We are very lucky to have this little gem in Thirsk.

Visited for the second time tonight and have to say it's a great experience. The staff are most welcoming, the prices are very reasonable and the film's are bang upto date. Will be definitely returning.

The screen isn't the biggest, the sound isn't the best, the seats don't recline, you can't pre book, only one choice of film per week and there is only a limited selection of snacks and drinks. BUT if you want to get even a glimpse of what the cinema of yesterday was like, you MUST try the Ritz. Fabulous. 🙂

It's brilliant!! so why not 5 stars? one minor niggle for me was the sound quality but it's not worth moaning about when you only pay £6 to get in!! Was also like the old days when you used to turn up a the cinema to queue up and buy your ticket there and then - no advance online purchases here!!
I will be taking advantage of the fact this is only a 5 minute walk for me too
