What a lovely afternoon out! The castle tiny but it's everything you'd expect of an historic building and it's set in beautiful grounds with an amazing view. The museum is great for kids - they even get to play an explorer game while they look around which makes it a lot more fun - my husband and I got involved too. The price for the museum is fair and worth it, considering the castle as a whole. The art gallery was tiny but actually a lot more interesting than I expected - I just wish I had the money to buy some of the amazing pieces. The cafe was bright, clean and oh, the food! - at first I was like "£6.75 for a sandwich?!" but it was easily the best sandwich I've ever had and the accompaniments were filling and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout and the gift shop was reasonably priced. There's even a kids playground so you can literally spend hours here, which is far more than I expected. Honestly a pleasant surprise, a great find and a fab family outing!

A fascinating museum with interesting displays. I loved the bits about geology with rock and fossil objects. Everything is well laid out and we spent a lot of time here. There are several benchmarks around the castle. The one at the entrance is 330.6 feet.

Really lovely museum, small and cosy but modern and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The exhibits were varied but all tied back to the Clitheroe area. More aimed at kids but still plenty to learn and enjoy for adults too.

The museum is very interesting with lots of information on all aspects of local life in the area. Sections are divided into different rooms with each covering a particular aspect of life. Covid restrictions very much adhered to with time slot booking and a very clearly marked one-way system in operation. Staff on hand to ensure everything is running smoothly. Well worth a visit if you're up at the castle.

A great little museum that can easily entertain you for half a day / a rainy day. Conveniently situated just a few minutes from the railway station, an impressive small castle (with great views) sits next to a very interesting museum, which has exhibits on local & natural history. Friendly staff man the place, with a small shop for souvernirs. Unfortunately, the cafe was closed on my visit 😕 (February Half Term 2022), but Clitheroe town centre outside should have plenty of eating options.

A nice little museum to walk around, lots of information and hands on exhibits for youngsters, (or adults).
The walk up to the castle is a little steep in places, worth it for the views though.

A 'must see' if you're visiting the area. Great little museum with plenty of local history and the castle itself although small is worth it just for the views! The grounds are lovely to wander around as well although there are some fairly steep paths to negotiate so just be warned! The only downside for us was that the cafe/restaurant was closed when we were there but I would imagine that was just due to being midweek and early in the season (May).

The museum is small but interesting. They provide activities for kids which makes it fun and interactive. The view from the keep is definitely the best part of the experience.
