Plant weekend.
I think there were more of the gardens and the lake that I missed today. But the plant sale had some really different plants.
The topiary animals were really cute. And I really liked the ram.
The forget and fused glass art was also an interesting addition. Next time, planning a trip to the tearoom too.

Surprised how much there is to see here, it's a wonderful old building with a rich history and we found the Peel museum particularly interesting.
The gardens were very lovely and there are many good spots for a picnic.

It a lovely house, with even nicer gardens. They always have little events throughout the open time of the year. I went when they had The Mercedes-Benz Club S Class Festival so there was a old and new models of Mercedes S class cars. They do markets for each season and also a Halloween after dark night which is really good. Some events it does recommend buying tickets beforehand others like the event today it is not needed.

The House and Gardens are easily accessed and have plenty of parking from the main road. The gardens are worth a walk around in them selves and the small courtyard shopping area is great for coffee and food as well as local artisans.
You can easily wall from here to the RSVP reserve at Middleton Lakes and enjoy the woodland and lake walls. Everything is relatively good for wheel chair and disabled access

What a lovely place I had never heard of it before but there was a Vdub show there so we decided to visit . I am so glad we did it was so reasonably priced to go in but it was beautiful . It has so much history attached to it and is run by a charity and all the work and restoration has been done by volunteers . Plus it has a Peel museum inside dedicated to the family of sir Robert Peel . And John Ray one of Britain's first naturalists lived there . Amazing place ,the gardens are beautiful ,the cafe is lovely and again very reasonably priced well worth a visit a hidden gem .

Middleton Hall and Gardens are a huge pleasure to visit. The house has a long and interesting history, and with each room devoted to a different topic there is plenty to hold your interest. My favourite parts of the house were the old kitchens, the magnificent dollshouse, and the old stills for making medicines. I was impressed by the amazing Peel Museum, which is a large room staffed by volunteers stuffed to the gunwhales with Peel memorabilia and archive material. This in itself is well worth the entrance fee. Outside I loved the walled garden and herb garden, and paths wound through the orchard leading to seats by the lake. It really was a charming day out, especially when paired with a visit to the Courtyard shops and cafe. Highly recommended, and it can only get better as the restoration continues. My only slight reservation would be the lack of room wardens who could have helped us to understand the house better (the Hall seeks additional volunteers), and we did notice that a few of the interpretation boards were a bit confusing or misleading. But these are such minor criticisms that I can't possibly drop a star!

Spent an absolutely fantastic Sunday afternoon here. First stopped for lunch at the cafe in the courtyard... delicious food, had a browse around the shops and then went to visit the house and the gardens.

What a fascinating place it is! Saved and run by volunteers, it is a credit to all the hard work they have put into the restoration.

I loved the history of the house and it's occupants but I thoroughly enjoyed the serenity of the gardens, lake and nature trail.

It's such a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. What an absolute treasure of a find. I will definitely be returning, as I ran out of time to visit the RSPB nature site. Something to look forward to next time 😁

We enjoyed our trip to Middleton Hall and gardens. It is run by an independent charitable trust and is £7 to go in. The building has been added to over the years and I found the Elizabethan half timbered bit the most attractive. There are not a lot of contents but the structure of the building is great. There is an Edwardian, I think part where weddings are held. There is a Robert Peel museum which was fascinating. The curator was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions with lots of interesting facts. The grounds are lovely with some beautiful old trees and the walled garden is beautiful too. There is a lake and a nature walk and there are things for children to do too. There is also a craft centre on site with an antique shop, yarn shop and others. Not a bad couple of hours out. We enjoyed it 🙂
