The Old Bell Museum is packed with local history. There is exhibits about life in Montgomery around the 18th and 19th centuries, the local workhouse, the old Montgomery railway station and both the stone castle in town and the motte and bailey in Hendomen.
Entry for adults is only £2, and only 50p for under 16s. It may not be so thrilling and interactive for younger children but there are a good hour or two's leisurely browsing for interested individuals.
The building itself is thought to have started life as an alehouse, and gone through several different guises over time, including a bakery and slaughterhouse, until its current use as a museum. As such, there is no lift and the stairs may present a challenge to the less able.
The museum is well worth visiting if you're in the area.
