Great little nature reserve for exploring with dogs or kids. Our young kids enjoyed the railway area and riding their bikes on some ramps and bumps there. The car park is small.

Free nature reserve on a former colliery site. Good use of paths means it feels a lot larger than it is. In winter parts of the hill are impassable, but there is still the short heritage trail to explore, with really well executed information boards on route. Plenty for little ones to do as well including hiding in bushes, building dens and following the railway tracks. Nice picnic area by the car park with bird feeders. Just be warned, no toilets (it is a free site!) and a car park that is often full, although it doesn't feel busy.

Great place for a couple of hours spent in nature. Plenty for your four legged friends to get their noses into.

New Point Nature Reserve is a nice place to go for a walk, rain or shine. It's great for dog walking with different routes you can take to get around. The walk itself didn't seem that long but you can make it longer by going off the trail and then reconnecting to it later on. it was very muddy when I visited so it might be better visiting on the dryer seasons to avoid slipping over.

Nice place for a relaxing walk.
Nature reserve but area allows for longer walks if wished. Nice 4 mile, the majority of which are on a good surface.
Can hear the road on the far side, but does not impact on the relaxing walk.

A lovely nature reserve that is relatively quiet, has a good main path with lots of smaller side paths to explore down and most importantly, plenty of wildlife to see!

Habitats include:
A few ponds with plenty of bird and insect life in and around them.
Woodland mainly made up of birch, oak, willow and maples.
Grassland with patches of gorse, broom and scrub.
Disused mine which allows unique plant species to grow which in turn attract insects such as Dingy Skipper butterflies pictured.

It could do with some maintenance. The road is severely potholed and paths are not passable in some places.
Weirdly there's very little wildlife. But it was a warm day and not bad for a short walk. Good for elderly or people with prams.
