It is just that really - a path. Years ago there were benches here but I don't think they necesarily want to encourage people to sit. It is however, a nice place to walk; teeming with wildlife and kept clean and free flowing by local volunteers. There is also a lovely mural on a wall at one end, painted by an artist in conjunction with some of the children from Barton school.
Not worth a visit if it's out of your way but a nice place to find yourself.

If the locals were more caring it would be much better to walk along. The river is pretty clean as we saw a number a decent sized fish darting around, 15cm+. But also plenty of rubbish. That said it does seem to be looked after as most rivers in similar situations are terrible and unloved.

Agree with other review, if you are nearby take a look. But don't make a journey of it.

Lovely place. Peaceful and quiet. I took my mom for a stroll there, she just loved it. She wants to go back. Not even a mosquitoe in sigjt when we were there bit maybe we got very lucky.

The chalkbed river is lovely. Sadly uncaring people throw litter in the water.

A haven for wildlife in the centre of Dover. I frequently use this path when I have dropped my car in for servicing , and walk home. One of Dover's best kept secrets.

I visit this area regularly, particularly as I love to see young children enjoying the natural habitat. To see them feeding ducklings, pointing to other birds and other things like that is just great.
A Volunteer couple do a great job trying to keep the rubbish clear and where possible, the weeds cut back.
Love it.
