It's a good place for a walk or bikeride. Carpark was free and easy to find. There are toilets which is always handy. Not been to the free museum but we had a cuppa tea, flapjacks and an oatcake from the cafe which was nice after a walk.

Area of nature trails, mixed with wooded copses taking you up and around the park ideal for getting out into the local countryside to enjoy the views across Staffordshire whilst walking the dogs , plenty of space for them to run free safely.

I haven't been down Apedale for a few years so decided to go and have a walk around to see what's changed and what a surprise I got ( in a good way ) the walk was well worth it .
The heritage centre was open and steam trains were running also a well stocked cafe , amazing to see such trains been well looked after and running with passengers on board. Walk around Apedale itself was lovely but must admit I didn't go all the way around, but I will soon .
I could carry on talking about this lovely place. Dog friendly and also a great place to take the kids . Plenty to see & do .

Good paths that stay dry in the winter for when your out with the dogs. Lots of different paths to choice and all not to difficult quite flat most of the way on them. Good parking with plenty of spaces. Picnic tables available in the summer to use but no public toilets to use or any other facilities like coffee shop or snack shop available.

Lovely little train ride, interesting museum packed full of local mine history, café, special events sometimes, only spoiled a bit by the rain! Worth a visit!

This is a beautiful country walk in the middle of the busy Newcastle Borough. It feels like you are far away from the hustle and bustle of daily, city life. There are many different walks available to take and I have been going there for a couple of years but still find new parts to explore. It does state that dogs must be on a lead around the cafe, visitor centres and the miniature railway, obviously, and in a few areas it states dogs must be under close control. To be honest as soon as I am away from the car park areas, of which there are two, I always let my dogs off and providing they don't cause any problems for anyone I've never experienced any negativity. There are toilets in the cafe area but during Covid these have been closed. Apedale gets quite busy at the weekends as it is such a beautiful place to visit, but in the week it is usually very tranquil with only a few dog walkers or joggers. I definitely would give Apedale a visit if you have never been.
