West Gate Car Park (Fountains Abbey)

Love it here Great walks car parking is huge suitable for a motorhome..Two cafes lots of different walks the Abbey is great well taken care of and choose how many time you go can get s different experience.

The West car park is, quite frankly, a disgrace. The surface is a potholed nightmare. A carpark that is supposed to be, according to the many signs, for the benefit of disabled visitors should have a flat, tarmaced surface. My wife raised this issue some three years ago. Nothing has changed.

Would recommend parking here, much more direct access to the abbey and easier with children (it does avoid the entire play area that the main pathway goes through which may be beneficial if you’re trying to conserve the kids energy)

It's a good day out and the Abbey is an impressive structure with beautiful surroundings including the Studley royal water gardens. Nice to take your own picnic or use any of the cafes that are there.

this car park is solely for the use of disabled people visiting Fountains abbey its located adjacent to the entrance to they abbey and its grounds.
the car park is fairly large with enough spaces for around 30 cars and has an information bored and a pay and display machine
iam unsure of the cost of parking as iam a national trust membership holder and for me parking was free but im sure it is minimal.
the car park is a gravel road but i would assume it would be quite easy to push a wheel chair across it .

Second visit in 4 months and had another great day. We saw much more of the site as we had booked a electric scooter so were able to access much more. Very busy but wonderful. Fountains Abbey .

Parked here to collect a pre-booked electric scooter. The lady on the gate was really helpful and safety conscious. The scooter was excellent and enabled my wife to get around the large site easily.
