Whenever I’ve gone in though they’ve tried their best and are always friendly and helpful.
I recently went directly from Morriston hospital with a prescription for 7 days of medication that are essential for my ensuring optimum condition of my leg prior to an impending amputation,
When I gave it to a very helpful and polite assistant she explained that as the total number of tablets was not shown on the script she could not issue the prescription.
I was now facing a significant problem facing the prospect of having to go back to the hospital (several miles) to get a written insertion stating how many tablets per medication were needed.
I explained my medical problem prevented me from driving (apart from the continual pain I was in, which was significantly debilitating) so she said “if you ring the hospital and get someone on the line who can confirm the number of tablets I will issue them”
Connecting to the correct ward took several minutes and when I got through I explained my predicament; they said pass the phone to the Pharmacist).
The Pharmacy was empty so I went to the counter to beckon the lady who I had spoken to who was preparing some prescriptions. Suddenly up came another Bearded Pharmacist who said we don’t do this it is against the law.
He would not let me explain that I had the hospital pharmacist on the line who wished to confirm the information but just turned his back on me and walked away.
He clearly did not wish to help me as an elderly infirm customer
He clearly had nor the wit or the intelligence to listen to the hospital Pharmacist who wanted to send the information by email or sms
And he clearly didn’t care about undermining the good intent of his assistant
All this happened whilst the Pharmacy was deserted.
Result; I took 4 bus- rides and 6 hours to get it sorted and significantly aggravated the condition of my leg.
This not the first time I have seen this gentleman talking to customers like they are idiots and dismissing them as such.
So after many years of using this Pharmacy I will not use them again - the sad thing is the previous head pharmacist (John ) was not only the epitome of politeness and good manners to all he dealt with but was helpful and very generous with wisdom and good advice to customers on medications and treatments; he will be sadly missed for sure.
