Malcolm was very thorough and addressed the issues I had with ease. He is very knowledgable. He developed a great personal training plan for me and I felt comfortable with his expertise. I am hopeful to be able to continue with the exercises he has given me to tackle my half marathon!

First Physio was also very accommodating and it was easy to book an appointment around my busy working schedule. Would recommend to anyone.

I’ve been seeing Jo at First Physio after rupturing my ACL skiing, and I cannot fault the help I’ve received. Her knowledge and enthusiasm is obvious, I feel that she has fully assessed my individual progress and needs, and designed a regime which I am definitely benefiting from, we have a clear set of exercises and benchmarks for reviews. Comparing this to physiotherapy I have had for previous injuries I can see there is a wide spectrum of effectiveness and First Physio is at the top!

First Physio and Malcolm are one of the best physios I have ever attended. Coming from a professional diving background, where I normally go to the same physio back in Denmark, this really says a lot. Ive been through a lot of physios of different levels and this is one I would use every time I lived in England. Malcom is very professional, good and pin pointing what needs to be worked on, and is very good at sportsmassages. He is very easy to come into, very trust worthy and made me feel very comfortable in a time where I was very frustrated with my injury. He helped me come back to my sport steady and at the right pace, and I am very grateful for that. I give my strongest recommendation to first physio and Malcolm.

I have had problems with my lower back since my mid twenties, some 40 years+, and have tried a variety of treatments. During a particularly painful episode [and because I no longer wanted to take ever stronger pain killers] my GP recommended that I should see a physiotherapist, and fortunately I found Jo. Making that first appointment was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I have been seeing Jo on a regular basis [every 8 or 10 weeks] for some years since then, and with regular treatments and Jo's advice about exercise, I am no longer incapacitated with back pain.
I have also developed arthritis in my knees and hands, and with treatments including massage, acupuncture and ultrasound this too is manageable.
Jo's knowledge and expertise is matched only by her patience, kindness and professionalism. I would highly recommend First Physio.

I have been going to see Jo for a nearly 9 years now. She supported me through my rowing career and has always been a great help with any niggles I have picked up. She is a big part of my sporting achievements which included representing GBR. Even now that I am living in London, whenever I visit Devon to see family I will see Jo to have a check up to keep me injury free. I could not recommend a more kind and brilliant physio!

I rolled my ankle at the beginning of lockdown, so Jo has treated my ankle via video appointments. She's provided an excellent service: reassuring, supportive and professional. She has stayed in touch with me between appointments and has provided personalised exercises, based on my needs and interests. Highly recommended!

I had three sessions of treatment for a knee injury with physiotherapist Jo Avery in which she taught me much about home training. She was professional, enthusiastic and fun. She has a wealth of experience and extensive qualifications and is well connected with the local NHS. I am nearly fully healed having followed her advice and I had every faith that I was in good hands from the moment I walked (hobbled !) into the clinic. Do not hesitate to book your appointment. I really could not be more pleased with my recovery as this has occurred without any medical intervention and is based entirely on tailored exercises, rest and time. Jo also gave me good guidance on safe limits to my daily activities and restored my self confidence early on in my rehabilitation.

BRILLIANT PHYSIO - Jo was friendly, sympathetic of my injury, and clearly wanting to do everything she could to help me overcome my injury/pain.

The best physio around for sure! Jo gave me different exercises for rehab/strengthening which had immediate results. Jo listened to my lifestyle needs, and worked out how my body moved.

Cannot recommend Jo highly enough. With the frustrations of injury, pain and no physical activity Jo immediately gave me hope and support, in such a lovely personable way.
