Based on the positive reviews I must assume that the framers know their job better than the front of house staff.
That afternoon I received a call from the lady in the shop, they would not cover the cost of repair and if I did want it repaired then it would be a further £27 plus VAT.
The owners were not even prepared to call me themselves, rather leaving it to the shop attendant.
There are quite a few picture framing companies around. I would suggest you choose one of those, rather than this one.
Response to the owners comments.
1. The picture, since the day I collected it, was hung on the wall in our lounge. Entirely reasonable I would have thought. Certainly I would think as not being inappropriate use for a picture framed at the cost of £169.
2. If your workmanship should only be expected to last for a few years, I would suggest you explain that to your customers. If the picture cannot be hung on a wall, I suggest you say so.
3. I don't think, and I am sure all your customers will agree, that a picture should be re-set in a frame every few years. That's certainly not the case with the numerous other pictures I have in the house. Maybe this happens to so many of your customers that you think it's normal and it's acceptable?
4. Your staff were not bullied or intimidated in any way.
5. It's important that my experience is highlighted to the general public, so they are aware of the level of service they might well receive. There are plenty of framing shops around to choose from. Best choose one of them, maybe they will take pride in their workmanship and customer service.
Lastly, asking me not to visit your shop's. After this experience, why would I bring a picture into one of your shop's in the future for framing? My experience tells me you are not capable of doing the job to anything like a reasonable standard, or be concerned about the quality of the job you do.
