I have just witnessed, the most dreadful scene in what should be a quiet town post office.
The Asian gentleman behind the counter (who I took to be the owner) brought a customer quite literally to tears!
As far as I could tell she was just asking about what service to use when he launched into the most appalling rant. This tirade was not helped by what seemed to be the local 'care in the community' type at the head of the queue joining in. The poor woman was hugely embarrassed not least because the man at the counter was revealing in a loud voice that she had been sending letters to someone in jail!
The post office occupies a privileged place in British society and I can't believe that someone in charge of mail could be so blatantly indiscrete and offensive.
I've never seen anyone treated so badly in public.
Like the woman in question I walked out and If my life depended on it I would not use this shop again!

I use this post office regularly and am always impressed by the professional, courteous and friendly service officered by the counter staff. The one-off experience relayed by the reviewer below does not align with my many good experiences of this establishment. It's a shame to see a local independent shop being given a single negative review with no positives to balance the picture. An alternative post office counter is located within the WHSmith store further down the high street but the service in that location is less personal and the queue is usually very long.

I work across the road from this Post Office and have just popped out to send a parcel. Having looked at Royal Mail's website I thought I would be able to send my parcel as a medium parcel, signed for, for £6.05 - however the chap behind the counter advised that due to the weight (2.4kg), it was going to cost me over £14 via ParcelForce. Ouch! He then advised that if I split my parcel into two, each would be under 2kg so could go as seperate Second Class small parcels at just £2.85 each. The chap even helped me to reopen my parcel, split half of it into another package (purchased from the shop) which I addressed whilst he resealed the other box. I didn't catch you name Sir but you went above and beyond this morning and you are a credit to your profession, for which I heartily thank you!

Does not stick to the opening hours on the Post Office website. Closed all three days over a bank holiday weekend when I was due to pick up an important parcel this morning (Saturday).

Was advised not to use signed for delivery as the post master thought it was better to send it normal first class, it will definitely arrive first thing. Low and behold, important documents missing in post and now with no way of tracking them!!

Fantastic newsagents & post office. The ladies who work there are very friendly and helpful. The shop is well lit, has a good layout, with a decent variety of foodstuffs, confectionary, newspapers and so on. Highly recommended.

I've always found the proprietors extremely helpful and courteous, I've never encountered rudeness from temp staff although some in the comments have. It's in very convenient area, not quite having to go into town. Queuing has been minimal but this was before covid, not their fault they are following guidelines.
Family business should be supported.
