Hook Post Office

Had a very flat small bag, size of a letter, but cashier wanted to send as a parcel. Had to persevere for her to try it as a letter, which it easily did go through the letter box they have.

No apologies, just a miserable face.

Have had this experience before, so not the first time. Will use other local post office as they do not over charge and are friendlier.

Had 3 bad experiences at this shop now, from the same one extremely rude lady. From overcharging me for a large letter (i make sure measurements are correct) and having no regard for my parcels by throwing it into the sorting bag without care. I send 100+ parcels each month and will be taking my business elsewhere.

It’s extremely frustrating when you take the additional time to insert a slip of cardboard into packages, which you’ve also measured out at home to make sure they fit as a large letter, to then arrive at the PO to see the lady drop the package which literally falls through the measuring hole, only needing the tiniest bit of a gentle push to get through when it gets halfway, to then get told it is a parcel? The postman needs to push these through the letterbox anyway why would it not count as a large letter when it has literally fitted through and just needs a little shake to fall through the hole??? I then went to a different local PO where there were no issues whatsoever where the correct prices were charged.

Staff here are always so lovely and kind! It’s only a small shop, but they make it work well and it’s full of interesting local craft items as well as all the essential postage bits and lottery etc. Never had an issue here and will keep using. Love their dog too, so had to include a picture. Look what it says on the box, so funny and relevant!!

I have just visited the Hook Post office and encountered a very rude attitude from a member of the counter staff. So much so I decided to take my parcel elsewhere. I showed surprise at the price as I had already priced it up at home, when I commented that I would just have to pay it she slammed the Royal mail price list down in front of me and said well you don't have to but that's the price! When i pointed out that she was rude i had abuse shouted out at me as I walked down the shop to leave! Needless to say I won't be returning there again!

Generally OK but they do try and hard sell you and quote higher prices than they should. For example, when I said 'really? That's expensive, is that the cheapest?' they would say 'well it won't be tracked otherwise' when I never said I wanted it tracked etc. This has happened so many times I now say 'is that the cheapest?' every time to make a point. I hope they don't it to elderly people.

Can agree with the disrespect of packages. I dropped off a parcel that needed a few hundred pounds of cover only to see it casually thrown an arms length onto the top of the pile.
