Showed up perfectly on time for our viewing in Great Ashby. We waited for five minutes without a sign of an estate agent and having rung the doorbell we knew the owners weren’t in, so we called the office who told us the person showing us the property would be two minutes away.

Having waited another five minutes, we left. Driving back past the property there was still no sign of the estate agent a grand total of 15 minutes after our appointment time.

Can’t believe they not only forgot our viewing but also lied to us. Would have loved to have viewed the property but there we go.

We bought our home in Great Ashby via Geoffrey Matthews in 2021, Paul being our agent, and couldn't fault them. Everything ran really smoothly and the office kept us updated every step of the way. We would definitely use them again if we were to sell and move again in the future.

I rented my property through Geoffrey Matthew and it wasn't a very pleasant experience. My property had been damaged, but when handed back was told it was in 'good condition'. I asked why my property hadn't been inspected or why I hadn't been provided with inspection details and was told that inspections doesn't stop damage. However, the damage was over one thousand pounds to the walls & carpets. There were no inspection pictures provide throughout the tenancy. Agent's blamed the tenants saying they were hostile to inspections, which I find hard to believe as I was paying this company 15% to manage my property.

Twice my tenants withheld rent and I had a rent guarantee with agent, despite this I was made to wait nearly two weeks to be paid by agent. When I went to get the keys for my property, after eventually moving tenants on and returning to UK, I was horrified to find my keys had been given to a contractor who had had them for five days. I had given the agent ample notice of my return to the UK and when I would collect keys.

This happened again the week after when another contractor took the keys and did not return them. One contractor called me directly about entry to the property as the agent had told them to call me - despite the agent still holding keys. As for the contractors that the agent used, I was paying way over the odds and in the end stopped using them. Every month there seemed to be a problem and the solution always seemed to be one of their contractors. A 10 quid toilet part ended up costing me one hundred pounds, the majority in fees!

I challenged the agent on the lack of inspection, but like most my issues with them, emails went unanswered or ignored or took significant time to be responded too. I believe the property ombudsman was also ignored when sending correspondence to this company.

The final numbers for my gas meter were incorrectly entered, which meant I was seriously overcharged. It appeared the tenants switched utilities supplier while living in my property and I wasn't informed. It took 5 months to get sorted with gas and electric company. The council tax was not put back in my name - leading to me being fined.

The whole experience was shoddy, poorly co-ordinated and exhibited a lack of interest in their client.

Would avoid at all costs especially if renting out a property whilst living 6,000 miles away.

I would recommend Geoffrey Matthews Estate to you all. The staff was very professional and helpful. Mark helped me to find exactly what we wanted. They went above and beyond to grant our wishes. I'm happy I decided to use them. I've moved in now and I can still call them about anything regarding my new house and my new neighbourhood.

Highly recommend the team at Stevenage! We stupidly started our house selling process with Purple bricks- disaster from start to finish! We decided to use Geoffrey Mathews. Thank goodness we did! From the moment mark did the photos all the way through the process everyone we felt with was professional , pleasant and knowledgable ! We cannot thank them enough, the moving process could have been much worse if it wasn’t for the them, they even recommend Ed an amazing solicitor Karen and a great moving team who moved us from walkern to Northumberland ! I found your staff extremely professional and trust worthy. Mark and Paul were both great in guiding us with regards to price and I appreciated their opinion. They were definitely NOT just after a sale at all costs, they were aware that house buying/selling involves people and their lives. It is a stressful thing to do and they were very supportive.

I would definitely recommend Geoffrey Matthews to other people I know.

We sold and bought at the same time both via GM in 2022. Mark and team were attentive, very helpful and effective in helping us overcome difficulties. We were very pleased with the purchase of our first home via Geoffrey Matthew Estates in Great Ashby Stevenage, Raluca Gutu Negotiator went all and beyond trying to help us with any query we had and at the end we had smooth and great purchase. Can't recommend enough!
