When valuing my late father’s property for probate, they were very professional, sensitive and offered some very good advice relating to the vacant property and how to keep it secure until it was sold; suggestions I wouldn’t have thought of at a time when my attention was elsewhere.
Following that experience, I decided to list my last property with them when I was looking to sell. Again, they were the ultimate professionals; undertook the valuation quickly and without issue, discussed their thoughts in detail with me and answered all of my questions comprehensively without making me feel obligated to list my property with them.
When I did list the property with them, they kept me up to date, arranged viewings in good time and kept me appraised of the current market, thereby allowing me to make an informed decision as to whether or not offers being made were sensible.
When I accepted an offer on my property, Richard worked hard to keep on top of solicitors (mine and the purchasers) to ensure the sale was swift. I was actually amazed at the amount of work that Richard undertook on my behalf behind the scenes (my solicitor filled me in), and the sale went through quickly and without issue as a result.
Aswell as this, they were always prompt, would call when they said they would and would return calls promptly. Whenever I called the office, whoever happened to answer the phone was always polite and helpful, and seemed to know who I was and the property I was selling - it really added a nice personal touch. I would definitely use Michael Jones and Co again, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Firstly, upon check-in, they fail to tell you they will come around every 3 months to check the property. The normal procedure is every 6 months, 3 months is excessive and you feel like you are constantly being invaded and monitored in what is supposed to be your own home (whilst you rent it). You're supposed to be able to enjoy what is classed as your home under law when you rent it but this isn't the case with them.
So, if that wasn't all at first. Two years into our rental, we were having issues with neighbours. The new neighbours were loud, throwing parties every weekend which went on until 2am and beyond each time, they had unruly children that screamed from the time they woke till the time they finally went to bed at whatever hour. The neighbour down the road (where our new neighbour had moved from) explained to us they were an issue when they lived next to her, Michael Jones Estate stated there was nothing they could do so if we were unhappy all we could do was hand in our notice. As we no longer had a contract as the tenancy was up, this is what we did. The tenancy stated at the end, should we wish to leave we had to give 30 days notice, which I did. They then tried to stated I had to stay for 60 days as it needed to go from the date my rent was due, when I advised them they were incorrect and should they be unsure, they should take legal advise, they suddenly agreed with me.
Secondly, they will deduct money from your bond to have an inspection done at check-out. Never in my life has money ever been deducted from your bond to complete a check-out inventory. They sneakily hide this in the terms of your tenancy agreement, which having looked, they shouldn't be doing.
Lastly, we received the check-out inventory which stated it was cleaned to a high standard and was the same as check-in and ready to be re-let, therefore, the bond should have been automatically returned, but no! They wanted to see copies of my bills to prove I had paid them before I left. such as gas/electric etc. I contacted the relevant companies and transferred all my details, final meter readings and monies etc but they wanted access to all of this as proof. How rude!!!! Not only rude but this shows my bill amounts and personal account information that they wanted to see. I had to email them advising they had no right to request that information and the bond needed to be returned. Then they said they had "30 days" to return the deposit to us. NO! The law says this must be returned within 10 days, where did they get 30 from? It should be within a deposit protection scheme and paid back by the scheme who hold the payment, so why would they need 30 days? Why would they claim they have 30 days when the law clearly states 10? Again, something fishy there aye!! After a lot of issues, we finally managed to get back the £1,460 (as they deducted £40.00 to cover the cost of their checkout inspection...wrong wrong wrong) They also tried to say that they would 'wait and see' what the landlord says as we "left a month early" which was incorrect, the terms state we were to give 30 days notice to leave the property, which is exactly what we done. Nowhere in the terms did it state we could only give notice on the day the rent was due, it just stated 30 days. They cannot withhold the bond unless they have a genuine reason, such as damage or unpaid rent, they had no reason whatsoever, but as stated, we managed to get it back
Very unprofessional company and they appear to have no clue whatsoever as to the law or what they are doing, and they rudely email you throughout your tenancy expecting you to drop thing such as work immediately to be available at home when they need to visit. Things never seemed right from the moment we got the keys and I feel sorry for anyone using this letting agent for renting. They are just awful and a shambles of a company when it comes to the way they treat their tenants and by the looks of things, will do anything to squeeze more money out of you. Never again. So glad I am out of there.
Michael and the team were on hand at all hours, even when things were tricky with the sale and liaised well with the seller.
Very happy with the sale and would certainly use them again.
Our fault really - we should have read the reviews on your agency.
