Fabulous food drink and service with a really chilled out atmosphere. I have been eating meat for 50 years and have just had the best burger of my life.

AFTER 2 TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTING VISITS I WILL NOT BE RETURNING :(

(So, I used to be a very loyal customer of The Brook before its temporary closure, and was probably was of it's biggest champions. However, the re-opened restaurant I would AVOID AT ALL COST!)

To summarise:

FOOD: Leaves you still hungry (even when having 3 courses and drinks)
Not as advertised in photo - VERY different
Some dishes do not even match up to what they're called on the menu i.e. the "creme brulee" is just a VERY shallow dish of condensed milk with no sugar crust
Certain dishes always "sold out" but staff never disclose at the beginning
Vastly differing quantities and proportions across different dishes
Overpriced for what you get - £12 for half a boiled cauliflower and packet of plain quinoa
Disappointing in appearance, quantity, seasoning, texture
Poor dessert options - might as well not bother even having it

MENU: Not as advertised on social media or site, every visit multiple dishes are not available, menu was changed to tapas menu without any notice, no options for ordering sides.

SERVICE: Bookings seem to count for nothing., no areas are reserved for bookings and staff act like it's a surprise when you show up for a booking. Staff are all forgetful, don't seem to be in the know yet over-sell the quality of dishes and are quite pushy. Staff are not attentive unless it's to ask you if you want to order more.

Manager is VERY pushy and has a bad attitude with customers who decline spending more money by getting more drinks/courses. Manager also strongly recommended 6 tapas between 2, but we couldn't even finish 3 between us (partly because we didn't want to).

VENUE: Upstairs is very nice, decor is great, amazing rock/indie music playlist (if, like me, you like those genres), but heating is practically non-existent downstairs and the tiny space heater turned off half way through our meal.

After my first AWFUL visit, I returned to give it another shot at redeeming itself but it was equally as terrible, if not, almost worse!

We would have complained both times in person but the manager is so passive aggressive that it was uncomfortable enough to say you wouldn't be ordering more things after you finished your meal, that we felt like we couldn't say anything negative.

INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING BOTH TIMES. WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Whilst the Brook's main dishes consist of battered and fried chicken and fish replacements from the asian supermarket (by the brand TKC, see pictures attached), the owner Thea - a miserably failed country singer- is literally one of the most passive aggressive, arrogant, evil, ungrateful and patronising employers I have ever had. 0 capability to own a business or take any responsibility or accountability, ever. As a vegan herself, it seems quite pretentious to brand yourself as someone who's nice to animals but a total bully to humans/ employees. This place looks closed for now and seems to have gotten what it deserved. Rebranding an already existing, asian product as your own, simply does sit not well with me and shouts peak of white entitlement.

We ordered the Supper club and it was amazing. Really beautiful food, great menu well thought out. No need to be vegan to enjoy this food.
