Have passed this pub a million times and always presumed it was a ‘student pub’, how wrong was I! Essentially set over 3 areas, restaurant, pub and cafe. Cafe had a good selection of cakes and coffees. The bar had a good selection of Beavertown beers. Looked at the restaurant menu and it looked very good as well. Don’t be put off by the stereotype and make your own mind up.

Admittedly a big fan. The interior design is one of the most well curated in Durham. Perfect place for a smooth coffee and cake (both 10/10). The vanilla chai latte is lovely and the matcha is nice too (only suggestion would be blend it well, an electric milk froth would do the trick). They come up with creative cakes every few days, all of which never fail to disappoint. They are great at changing it up without overdoing it and at beautifully incorporating seasonal ingredients. They do great vegan options from a tasty sandwich to a full meal. Would be amazing to see them try vegan cakes too, especially with all the Durham students round the corner. Service is nice, friendly but not overbearing. Prices are decent for what you get. Compliments to the chef, the food is divine. Would highly recommend the cauliflower w/ hummus, the mushroom toast and the muhammara dip. The miso apple frangipane tart is possibly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had, hope they bring it back on the menu as well as the cauliflower tacos I had last summer which were heavenly. All in all lush food, lush place.

Hmmm, once my usual cuppa outlet when i stayed in Durham. Nice settimg. Food is ok. The toast is a little hard for me. Service is great, they even helped charge up my phone !!

Gotta try the same outlet in town with my fav avo toast n pancakes :).

Lovely place, seemed busy on a Friday afternoon but we'd booked. Thought the food was nice & the Victoria sponge cake was very tasty. Peter the waiter was great, we got served quickly.

Famous restaurant that means you need to reserve if you do not want to wait.
I could enjoy several world foods. It was a pleasant experience and fine outdoor dining. FYI Only one minor problem was card reader device does not work in the outdoor dining sites.

Avoid if you want fast service. Second vist here. Thought I'd give it another go after staff a bit standoffish last time. Staff a bit more welcoming this time, but service is now super slow 😔 What a crazy setup if you don't want to take away. Service is super slow because they expect take outs and eat in to queue to order, but then only have a single server taking orders. Why no table service??? You never mind a bit of a wait whilst sitting comfortably at your table, but it's a different story when you have to queue for ages to order, then still have to wait for it to arrive.
