Loved this pub!! The beer garden was half sheltered and heated so you can eat outside any weather. The food was delicious and staff were really friendly and helpful. The inside of the pub was amazing. You could see how old it was by how crooked it was. Will definitely go again.

I made a great choice when I booked an overnight stay online in a double room for myself & my partner. The room was smart & clean with everything we required while the staff were all very professional, friendly & helpful with attention to detail making our stay thoroughly enjoyable. The dinner and breakfast in the lovely restaurant were both plentiful and delicious. Our experience at the wonderful Cheshire Cat left us refreshed with very happy memories we will both cherish.

Visited here with my wife as we were gifted a gift card as a wedding present. It was my first time in The Cat despite living around the corner for 4 years! I was very impressed with the architecture, as it combines the very old wooden and brick aspects of the original building, with modern steel and glass, giving a very fresh feel to the place. The dining area was upstairs, and we were given a very intimate table, which suited the occasion. The menu is varied catering for all tastes and the wine list and bar drinks available were varied. The staff were lovely, very attentive and polite and the orders (drinks and food) were bought out very quickly. The portion sizes were very good, as nd the food was delicious.
I shall recommend The Cat to friends and family and will return again in the future.

Plenty of history here with flag-stone floors and low beams ("miaow your head!"). It has been tastefully refurbished with some very modern touches - which don't look out of place even amongst the old features kept. The beer garden is quite small but there are some covered huts with very effective heaters - if you can find a free one! The food looked and smelled good, and the menu was decent, but we didn't stay to eat.

I came here with a group of friends for my 21st birthday after coming previously with family and having a lovely meal. However this time it was entirely different. I had booked a table and when I arrived they simply told me I was sat upstairs with no further information, I walked up there alone with no clue on where to go. Then once I was pointed to my table, we eventually got some drinks and ordered the food. The starters were lovely but then we didn’t get the mains for quite some time. Then when they did arrive it was all cold, and with some of the sauces included missing - such as cranberry sauce for the turkey and they never gave it to us. We had to send all 7 meals back and they were just put in the oven to reheat for another 10 minutes. During this time we ordered more drinks but didn’t get them for at least 15 minutes. It was disappointing to say the least, especially in comparison to my previous experience. We then asked for the bill and saw that they had tried to charge us for a whole extra meal that we never ordered, nor ate. We explained the issues we had with the meals, and were told that the chefs said the food came out quickly so it must have done. We explained the reality, and they offered to remove the drinks from the bill - the cheapest things we ordered after the cold, and not very nice tasting, food. We said that we thought this was a little unfair so they amended the bill again but it was wrong again too - we just gave up and paid. It wasn’t a good experience nor was it a good way to celebrate a 21st birthday. This wasn’t even all the issues we had but you get the point - and this was all on a Sunday where we were the only customers on the entire floor.
I usually love The Cat, but this time was very upsetting.

Had afternoon tea here today. The afternoon tea was gorgeous. Was worth. It was quite quiet when we arrived, there was a parade through the town. When the parade finished it got quite busy. There was a family on the table next to us had a long wait for they're food, but food looked really lovely when it arrived.

The food is very good, service can be slow at times. We've eaten there a few times and it's consistent at least. Great atmosphere with loads of historic features that are well preserved.

Our last couple of visits, ordered drinks didn't arrive. I would go back again as it's not a bad place but I think better care needs to be taken for diners

We had the "Christmas Buttie ", bread seemed to be lacking in quality and ripped . Pigs in blankets had a plastic like taste, the sandwich was served on a wooden board making it awkward to pour the gravy over the meat ,the filling was plentiful on the sandwich .
Service was slow , had to ask twice for a condiment.
Retired to the bar and had a pot of tea which wasn't too hot .
Shame really as with a little more effort the overall experience could of been better .We were early dinners to the restaurant and it was not busy , so no excuse .
Parking was available at rear of property which was handy..
From past experience of The Cat , today was disappointing !!
On line booking was not available so sister had to ring to reserve a table ,which she did 2 days before our visit
