Friendly service and good location with outdoor garden but they run out of food options and the scampi was not that good

Went there today at 1pm, my husband can only eat children's size portions of soft food, our server Glenn was absolutely amazing and couldn't help us enough to accommodate my hubby. The food was really lovely and we both enjoyed it and was not rushed. The restaurant was very clean and hygienic would definitely recommend.

The place was half-empty, when with my family went for late lunch (3PM). TThe waiter explained us that are booked for many parties an can place us for 30mins only. We asked if they can bring us the lunch in that time but he said no. 😳 Then why would we sit at all? 😳 We won't repeat that waste of time anymore. There are so many lovely beach bars around, and this one is a total disaster!

Outstanding service and super care with allergies. Attention to detail was excellent - my own salad was prepared separately to avoid any cross contamination. Food was tasty and very well presented. Joe, Glenn and Steve, thank you for looking after us. The best allergy care I have ever received.

Came in for a last-min dinner late one evening. We were sat and seen to very quickly, and directed to help ourselves to salad. It was freshly topped-up and very inviting.
The dinners were lovely and extremely filling. Couldn’t manage a dessert, but from those being taken past to other tables, they looked lovely! Perhaps next time.

Really friendly and welcoming staff.
The salad bar is great too, but the ordered food was disgusting, burnt and also cold at the same time. Taste was like dirt mixed with sage, it was cold inside too.
Not sure how you ruin food when you just need to heat it as nothing is made fresh on the premises.

This historic inn on the very corner of Southend’s beach has been a place of pilgrimage for years gone by. Formally a Brewster Bear’s, this new incarnation of the property has certainly maintained a sense admiration for visitors both past and present.

The food is sublime and prepared to a fairly good level and the drinks are faultless as one would expect.

My only niggle is the customer service. When you first sit down (in my instance, I was sat outside) you’re drawn to use the app to order your food much like the company’s competitors. However, when attempting to do so, it turns out that the Shorehouse is not on the list to order from. Disappointed is a good word but, it wasn’t the end of the day for me. The next option was to get someone to come to your table and order. This proved to be more difficult than getting a cat to come when called. After a few minutes of waiting, my party and I decided it would just be better to go in and order at the bar.

With the food ordered, it was quite a wait for us to finally indulge in our purveyed goods although, the moment was bliss when it finally came.

The atmosphere was good and it’s very child and family friendly. I would definitely come again knowing I’m now all the wiser in how this establishment prefers to offer its service to its customers.
