Colchester Country Park

Liked: The toilets and showers were clean and there are multiple toilet blocks so you’re always close to a toilet. Showers were warm. The park was very relaxing, you can hear the road but this didn’t bother us. Close to lots of fun places for the children (Colchester Zoo, Castle and the beach was a 30min drive). The Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The site is very secure (key fob entry and front gates) which made it feel safe. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Disliked: The phone signal isn’t great- EE only had 1 bar. Which is not the fault of the park but something to consider when staying.

Liked: Site was clean and tidy bathrooms were clean and showers were at an accent temperature. Close to the zoo about 10 min drive close to town centre 10min drive again plenty of stuff around to do friendly staff great security as well felt safe on site.

Disliked: Shower didn't stay on long enough had to keep pressing button to start up again.

Liked: We were greeted by a pleasant and helpful receptionist.

The site was well kept and the showerblocks were well designed, spacious and clean.

The site itself is very pleasant.

Well placed to get to the beach locations of Mersea Island, Brightlingsea, Holland on Sea etc.

Disliked: Unfortunately, it is right next to a major road and there is road noise all the time. If you are used to it and if you give it time you can block it out. If you are used to very quiet surroundings it is much harder. I would definitely stay there again if it weren't for that.

Had a lovely stay, Park was clean and tidy. Toilets were also well maintained and clean. Children really enjoyed the park on site and made lots of new friends. There was noise from traffic but I stopped noticing it after a while and it didn't interupt our sleep. Will visit again

Liked: Overall site conditions were clean and well cared for, as they have been for all of our visits to the site. Pitches well provisioned and generously spaced.

Disliked: Water temperature and pressure in the ablution blocks was very low.
Road noise - but the owners cannot do anything about that as the A12 Colchester slip-road run only about 10m away from some of the pitches.

Liked: A very well laid out and maintained site, with all facilities within easy access. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Security is excellent. The shower blocks, toilets etc are spotless with plentiful hot water. I’ve noticed that some reviewers complained about the road noise, but we got used to it very quickly and it didn’t disturb us at all. The site is very convenient for Colchester and the surrounding area. We were visiting family so it was a great option for us. Our two year old granddaughter came for a night and was made very welcome too. She enjoyed the play park and could run around safely. The other campers were friendly and considerate.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Everything! This is a lovely site. Very clean, level pitches, staff are great and, as it was Halloween, they had a little party for all guests which my 3 yr old granddaughter loved. Easy driving distance of town and zoo. Will def be going back and certainly recommend it.

Liked: Lady at reception was very polite and welcoming on arrival.

Disliked: Site is overpriced, comparing to other holiday parks I have been on.
Road was very noisy didn’t get much sleep as A12 runs directly next to site.
Very poor phone signal
