Cliburn Signal Box Holiday Cottage

We stayed in the signal box late May Bank Holiday and it was perfect. From the friendly welcome from the owners and the chickens. Great Base to explore the lakes and enjoyed the forest walk were we seen deer, badgers and red squirrels barn owl also enjoy the stargazing so beautiful. Will recommend to family and friends. Compact converted weighing office. This is separate to the signal box. Own parking space. Decking. Bbq. Wood burner with some wood provided. We used as base to explore surrounding area. Bed is up a ladder so you have to be pretty fit. Bed is comfy with lamps and plug sockets. Sky lights have Black out blinds. Well-equipped and finished to a high standard. Nice unobtrusive owners . Quiet area. Good dark skies to view stars

Return here year after year, Gavin & Wendy make you feel so welcome, can't imagine staying elsewhere in Cumbria!! Perfect base for exploring the lakes, and for wildlife watching, especially red squirrels! Love the surrounding area, breathtaking scenery. <3

2nd day of 7 and we are taking in many picturesque views. The highlight being able to return to the Signal Box which allows the camera opportunities to continue in homely, and idyllic surroundings. It is a holiday home which although we want to experience the beauty of the area Gavin & Wendy have made it hard to leave the Signal Box each day due to them making it so comfortable. We can reassure anyone looking to book that they will in no way be disappointed.

What a fantastic holiday destination this is. Nice and quiet and the proprietors are on site if needed. As our dog holidays with us we stayed in the static caravan which was clean and well appointed.

Excellent little holiday retreat, ideal for us as a base for cycling in the Lake District and North Pennines

This was our second visit, we knew the caravan would be clean and tidy. Gavin and Wendy were as usual fantastic hosts, always near by if any help was needed. The caravan is so well situated with amazing views from the veranda. DEFINITELY recommend Cliburn station accommodation. Will be booking again for next year. Thank you Gavin and Wendy.

Fantastic place for someone who’s looking for something a little different. Beautifully located for the Lake District, very peaceful, and the layout of the Signal box is well designed,
