Beautiful house. Warm, cosy and very clean. All mod cons. We had a great stay in The Orchard Cottage. Lovely place to escape to for big skies and green fields and not far to the gorgeous Northumbrian beaches!

Lovely house, so quiet with incredibly comfy beds! Rosie and Lucy are very welcoming and helpful and the bread etc was such a lovely touch too. Great space for our little family to have a relaxing break. My 2 year old has certainly enjoyed looking for bugs in the garden!

Very pleasant stay at Orchard Cottage during the first week of May '22. The area is nicely secluded and quiet, but with the benefit and security of owners close by. Poised above the River Till which is accessed via a steep(ish) path, there are superb walks, fishing and lots of wildlife to enhance even overcast days. Further afield, but not overly so, there are countless delights in the form of historic villages, miniature steam trains (Ford, Etal, Heatherslaw), beautiful Northumbrian beaches (Berwick, Holy Island) and super pubs (Cross Keys, Paxton).
The cottage has been recently updated and was spotlessly clean, nice touches like a welcome pack and 'starter' items such a washing machine pods, toiletry items, cleaning products etc. The owners were welcoming, available yet discretely 'invisible. The air source heating, though effective, was often annoyingly noisy, and the lounge sofa/chairs could do with a re-upholster. Other than these minor irritants, a thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended stay.

Our stay at Border View Cottage was perfect. Border View is surprisingly spacious, good sized rooms and accommodated 4 adults, 1 baby and a dog without being on top of each other at all. The utility room is fantastic, looks great but also big enough to put all the extra paraphernalia that comes with fishing, babies, dogs, etc. This is such a luxury in a holiday let to have this extra space, so the rest of the cottage doesn’t become cluttered.

There is real attention to detail across the whole place, with local artisan products from coffee to soap to beautiful wooden bowls (made from fallen trees from the surrounding farm.)

I would highly recommend getting the breakfast hamper, it was filled with local meat, eggs, bread etc and was such a treat to have on our first morning. The bread is made by a neighbour, who offers bread making courses, which I would have loved to do if we’d stayed longer.

The cottage benefits from Sunrise at the front and sunset at the back, so the house is always flooded with light. We were lucky enough to get a superb sunset on our second night as we ate supper outside with the fire pit. Wood is included, which was amazing as usually we have to buy or replace wood at other places we have stayed.

We had also booked out a rod for the weekend, the river has really clear signage and paths are well kept, so no chance of catching waders on brambles etc.

We loved our stay a Border View Cottage and we are looking forward to returning again soon. Thank you so much to Rosie and Lucy !

Loved the peace and quiet of this place. The river is stunning, great fishing for my hubby and beautiful walks with my pup. The stargazing is to be seen to be believed and some lovely beauty spots 😍

I can recommend the Tiptoe beat for many reasons; it is divided into 15 stretches, all slightly different but all very accessible and superbly maintained whilst still maintaining the beauty and natural habitats of the river as nature intended; all areas of the river are accurately annotated and described which is very useful for unfamiliar anglers. The booking system ensures that fishing pressure on the river at any one time is at an absolute minimum and the peace and tranquillity is unbelievable; to be on the river, whether catching or not, is a joy!
I had a blank day but thoroughly enjoyed it and thanks to all concerned so making it so

Wonderful relaxing place to spend a week, with brilliant, helpful hosts. Could do with a few updates - a Nespresso machine would be useful, the cooker is old and the games room needs clearing out - but for us none of these really mattered, a day by the river was all the compensation we needed!
