We stayed here in 2016, and what a horrible place to stay. As we walked through the front door, We were immediately welcomed by the stink of the previous residents curry which was made worse by the chemical smells coming from some sort of plug in “air freshener”. That smell by the way, lasted all week and is probably still there to this day. It wasn’t clean, the TV didn’t work properly, the living room was dark and the floor area was cold flagstones. The kitchen was ill equipped, and either it didn’t have what was needed, or it had three of the same things you didn’t need. The toilet didn’t flush properly, (and took an age to noisily fill up), and in the end we had to keep a bucket of water next to it just so that we could flush away the number 2s. Basically the description of the place online was misleading and completely exaggerated, and we were completely disappointed, especially as it wasn’t the cheapest of lets either. Parking is “tolerated” but across the road, however getting across that road to the front door is like playing real life Frogger, so with young kids and shopping bags this actually very dangerous. All in all it was pretty appalling, and luckily we spent most of our days outside visiting family and the very pretty Yorkshire Dales. The funniest thing I found, just before leaving, was that there was a guest book people could comment in. It was full of very happy people, having spent an amazing time in this beautiful “cottage”. Either these people were deluded or Karen had passed the book round all her mates for them to write in, but none of it was true. Do yourself a favour : find anywhere but here to stay, and if that’s not possible either change towns or sleep in your car.
