I've always liked WHSmith. Now I like it even more. Went in just before it closed to do my lottery at the last minute and it was very quiet naturally. I was served by Emma and Leanne who have great customer service and social skills. They were really nice, really pleasant and really great at having conversations. They weren't miserable like the staff of Wilkinson where they kicked all the customers out minutes before closing time. Have to say, WHSmith employs some really good people to be the sales assistants.

Although post office self service usually has no queues, don't gbet on it being any quicker (in fact sometimes it takes much longer). You'd likely get everything all done a lot quicker even if there's a queue at the post office. You log all the details and then the assistant is called over at the end before the stamps are printed, but there's almost never anyone there and when there is they're chatting a lot of the time. I've had it where they see you standing there waiting for them just to briefly scan their card to confirm it so you can continue and get out as the machine doesn't let you continue until its done, but more often than not they ignore you and continue to chat. I was waiting for over 15 minutes the other day and even the postman coming to pick the last post up was getting impatient as they continued to moan behind the counter. I hate having to go here and avoid it as much as I can but it's the only post office I can get to. Staff seriously need to up their game!

I fell in love with those elegant stationery I saw there. On the same day, I went back thrice to buy things again. While there are daily stationery, you have some exclusive ones for a slightly higher price

The post office staff are Very rude and unhelpful. Avoid avoid avoid.. 2nd time in there and no more. Waiting in the queue for 5 minutes to be told we are closed. My husband had the same last month. The travel section served someone in front of my husband walked off chatted with other members of staff then walked off and didn't return leaving my husband standing there. Chells sub post office or waitrose in stevenage old town are much friendlier and more helpful.
