The staff however are rude.
First time I noticed was when a foreigner used one of the cheap paper bags without paying for it. Whether he knew or not, idk. But the issue was the woman said she could not scan it with the items in it. So forced him to take everything out of the bag and did not help, and actually scanned that bag. Obviously you can just scan a different one. This was very dumb, I hope it wasn't malice, but worse she was very short with him. It was very awkward and uncomfortable for everyone, I felt bad for not stepping in, but was busy talking.
I noticed other times, but today I asked about a discrepancy in the price as it should be £1 for each of the pasta items, as it was displayed on the shelf.
The customer service was rude. I approached the desk. She didn't seem to notice despite glancing at me. So I said hello. She said hello back in a dismissive way then carried on putting cigarettes away... I stood there unsure she was actually going to serve me. After an awkward moment she turned around. I told the issue but she didn't understand that I was saying the offer was wrong. She was just counting the offers not acknowledging the issue.
She didn't say she'll check the offer or get someone to do so. She just said without seeing it I can't help. My girlfriend said she did talk to someone afterwards, as I walked away, about checking, but the other person moaned, they were busy. I have to point out it felt like there were less than 20 customers in the store. It was not busy.
So even though it was small amount, I was just annoyed about the principle. So, I asked someone else. First woman said she couldn't help because she's not management team and seemed to be lacking tools to get hold of them.
I think they need to give them a walkie talkie or should be told how to use the store phone, this was not her fault it seems, I guess.
Someone else there could leave there post, but was also rude and not bright. I went with him to the shelf. He couldn't work out the issue. He kept pointing to different products and saying, that's this product and that's this price with a condescending tone as if he solved it. I would have to explain that's not it.
What I realised, but he did not, is that they had placed the product over a price with a similar name. The price for the pasta was not anywhere on the shelves. This a deceptive practice really.
He didn't understand at first. As he pointed at other products again. So I repeated. He didn't apologise for this. I could have pushed that I should legally get the money off as it was deceptive. To put similar products together and give the price for only one, knowing the other is higher is not right. But it was wasn't much money and clearly they were very obtuse over a small enquiry, so I didn't want the confrontation.
I'll have second thoughts about shopping here again. 🙄 No one likes to be p'd off by rude staff.
Please be careful when shopping here. Along with the Broken Appliances endangering Customers and Colleagues, there is a major RAT PROBLEM in store. The're are Rat Droppings all on the shelves. I worked here and was told by the manager with grey hair not to bother cleaning up. I am currently in contact with Trading Standards. So sad to see as I love this store and enjoy shopping at this Supermarket. Also watch out for Falling Glass Bottles and they like to hang them on the edge of the shelves. I'm sure this is dangerous. A woman has recntly hurt themselves in this store and the manager was not bothered one bit.
