Little Waitrose & Partners East Putney

The self-checkouts were hidden around the corner, so I assumed there were none. I went to the till with a larger rolling trolley full of items, and the older caucasian man working at the till asked if I could just lift the whole basket onto the counter. I have chronic pain and am a rather petite woman, and I'm not strong enough to lift a heavy rolling trolley full of items. I politely said, "Is it okay if I just place the items individually?"

He seemed annoyed but proceeded to ring up my items and I let him know I'd need a bag. He placed the bag on top of all the items and proceeded to just stand there while I got my wallet out of my purse. While I was paying, he continued just standing there staring at me, refusing to bag any of my items. After I was done with my card, I quickly tried to bag all of my items as he just stood there glaring at me.

If he feels he's above helping bag customers' items, he shouldn't be working at Waitrose. If he was so upset that I couldn't lift the heavy basket to the counter, he could have just let me know there was self-checkout around the corner.

Also, what kind of jerk gets angry at a petite female for not being able to lift a heavy basket to the counter?!

I will be avoiding this branch in the future.

(Note: I only mention the employee's age and race in case it helps management identify the individual, not because I believe those things to matter in any other way)

So close to my flat so very convenient but need to remember that little waitrose sainsbury and tesco more expensive than their main shops

Great people working there, extremely efficient and friendly. About the products, the quality is well known, you can buy with confidence although it's a bit pricy.

When I am on my way to the bus stop nearby, I cannot help but take a few minutes and grab a treat for myself in the little Waitrose. Waitrose is by far my favourite shop chain of all time. They stock high quality food and drink and never fail to amaze me with the standards of their products. The staff are, well, average for a shop; but it does not take away from the Waitrose experience

Little by name and actual size. There isn't a huge product range on offer but for those feeling the Sainsbury's and co-op just up the road too much a stretch to walk to the little Waitrose will suffice.
