This place has the most manipulative, exploitative managerial staff, skilled in pushing the boundaries of what is legal. I was paid below minimum wage for the longest time, then dismissed over the phone with 2 weeks of work to go. Apparently, the paperwork for my dismissal was conveniently never formalized, meaning payroll could not pay me my last 10 hours of work (2 of which were overtime).

Of course, being a student, I was played the entire way through. Not once was I informed that in fact the man who had fired me did not have the authority to do so, and that my contract was indeed ongoing. Way to get £50+ worth of free labour from a 19 year old on his first job.

The floor staff (green shirts) and a couple of the higher-ups are actually lovely people and very hardworking - it's just a shame they are not employees to a better company. As for the managers, they are quite frankly bullies, who will guilt you into working overtime and then not pay you for it.

It is disgraceful how I have been treated. Students: Do not work here over the Summer. There are far better paying jobs and remember, even if you are desperate for money now, after your degree you will most likely be making far more than these supermarket managers off your starting salary alone.

As a final note to customers, I know you are all local shoppers and it is convenient but the standards in this place are atrocious. I was once asked to shovel 2 days worth of leaking wastage product into the freezer with our fresh chilled backstock, to desperately hide it from a health inspector (you guys might want to do another checkup). I also cannot count how many times I have had to refund rotten groceries or console someone who has had their card stolen by the ATM outside. "But it's RBS' machine, not ours" - it's on your property Budgens, so sort it out!

I cannot think of a worse first job. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

A big thank you to Budgens, Hinchley Wood for their very generous support for our Girlguiding Fair. Thank you especially to Diana & Richard for the fantastic quality sausages they have donated for our Fair BBQ!

This place is a rip off. Constantly charged a differet price to what is marked. Also so expensive I purchased some cheese and was charged £6.29 andwhen i looked at every other supermarket the same product was £3.50 also Lemonade priced at £2.20 in all other stores is £1.00. Often food is off. Would give less that 1 star if i was able. Also the post office is only ever open when it feels like it.

Very bad service. Items maked are not at the same price at the till. This is illegal. Seems no staff.

They are great during this lock down supplying fresh fruits, veggies, meat and eggs. The stuff are ensuring the social distancing and very friendly! We don’t need to go to big supermarkets. Thank you to everyone working there!

Prices are not the same at the till and as labelled. Generally speaking prices are petrol stations-like high. The till and cash machine didn't work this morning and I was stuck there for 15 minutes, and they kept trying to charge the incorrect prices even after. Not good.

I have visited Budgens at Hinchley Wood on numerous occasions when visiting my mum. I didn't have to queue to get in, although there was evidence that there was a system in place should the store get busy. It is reasonably stocked, but not a huge selection. There are two freezers at the back of the store which have meals for one or two and these are very good - a feel of home made about them. General food and snacks and beers and wines. It is a bit more pricey than your average supermarket. There are good covid measures at the tills
