Been changed from a supermarket to a processing plant, all but 5 checkouts have been removed. All self service, hardly any customer staff interaction apart from being told you can't have trolleys at this self service only baskets. You pick all you own goods, sort the good, scan the goods and pay for the goods and get moaned at you did all the work yourself at the wrong till. Been going here for year's but certainly not any more. Typical symptom of the corporate machine making more money. So long local jobs, well unless you can repair the machines as half don't work.

Worst customer service ever!!! Left there furious and humiliated!

Just visited this store, for a quick 8 items shopping- the machine on the basket self checkout failed to read my club-card, after 3 times try , the assistant came over and couldn’t help, left with no words, just shrugging her shoulders! When I call her again she said I don’t know what to do, go to customer service tell them your club card is not being recognised at the checkout… I took my items to customer service , after 5 min wait for my turn to be told they can’t help because its over 5 items and I have bananas !!! Just sending me back to self checkout like a pingpong ball!

Asked the security to call the store manager and was ignored!

On my way back to checkout, saw two shop assistant, they said Steve is the store manager today but they called Hanna to attend.

Two other young shop workers walked towards me and the guy came forward asking what has happened!

Told him the story- he wanted to see it for himself to believe it .. the machine we went on accepted the card this time! He said see! I never seen or heard club card accepted on checkout!

I said but it just did happen to me and your colleague was not able to help me , ask her! He raised his voice : I am not here to argue! What I saw your shopping gone through , take your shopping and go!

Basically calling me a liar ! And washing his hands off !

I wasn’t expecting a miracle ! But at least they could be polite!!

This is not the first time the shop assistants have been ride in that store!

But what I have noticed, customer complaints don’t get anywhere , and most of the shop assistants there , have no intention of helping customers!

I would do my best to avoid shopping there !!

I would like to inform you about the most appalling customer experience that I endured at the Potters Bar Tesco store on Saturday 01/10/2022 at between 3pm and 4pm (my main regret is that I did not video it).

I have been going to the Potter's Bar Tesco store for more than 25 years and every time Tesco make a change to the store, they make the customer experience worse, particularly that the product range diminishes after every refurbishment or rearrangement of the store.

On 1st October, I arrived at the Potters Bar store with a sizable shopping list, only to find that a number of the products that I have been buying regularly from the Potters Bar store for many years were either discontinued or not available (it was not clear which?). Amongst these items were the following:

1. Hovis medium sliced wholemeal brown bread 800g
2. Pedigree Dentastix dog treats - the only dog treat that my dogs like and which I have been buying at this store for at least 10 years
3. Itsu Seaweed Thins - a favourite item for my daughter.
4. Gluten free frozen food products for my daughter - far fewer items in the reduced sized "free from" cabinet than had been available 1-2 years ago - most notably Kirsty's pizza and also gluten free desserts.

Upon realising that to complete the purchases of all of the items on my shopping list would require me to either visit a Sainsburys in the local the area or go to ASDA Southgate, I joined an extremely long queue to get through the Tesco Potters Bar checkouts - at least 25 minutes - longer than I have ever experienced at any one of Tesco competitors (previously, Aldi and Asda had been the longest/worst checkout queues I had encountered).

The queue was so long - seven or eight trolleys at every checkout (and at least 30 people in the queue for the basket checkouts) - that I reached the point where I wanted to walk out of the store and leave the trolley full of food items in the aisle (some of these items were frozen products and I was concerned about them thawing before we could get home with them and put them in our own freezer).

It was only that my daughter was present and she wanted some of the items in the trolley that stopped me from abandoning the trolley full of food (I would have done so if I had been shopping on my own!).

During our long wait in the queue for the checkout, we observed a number of Tesco staff strolling about near to the checkouts without doing anything to alleviate the queues at the check-outs - most notably a supervisor/manager wearing a grey suit who was laughing and joking with other staff whilst strolling around the area and appearing to do no work at all. The situation was not a joking matter for me, nor for many other customers!

After finally getting my Tesco food shopping home, my daughter persuaded me to go to Aldi in East Barnet and then Asda in Southgate where we were able to purchase of the required remaining items that had not been available at Tesco Potters Bar.

This has been the most unpleasant and disappointing shopping experience at Tesco Potters of any that I have encountered since I moved into the Potters Bar area in 1994.

10-15 years ago almost all of our household shopping spend was with Tesco. Now less than 20% of our shopping spend is with Tesco (and Tesco management/processes seem intent on reducing this even further, probably to zero). I am definitely not in any hurry to return to Tesco Potters Bar in the foreseeable future.

The only reason that this review has one star is that I am not permitted to give it zero!

A terrible place to try and use cash. In the whole store there are only 3 self service tills accepting cash - rest are card only! What a disgrace to those using cash!!

Has everything I need. Aldi price matched, an in store Costa, great selection of products, petrol station and a hand car wash that uses autoglym cleaning products. Makes the car shine. What's not to love.

Its competitive! Not sure if that's enough against Aldi and ASDA now the quality is well matched. See them falling further back.
Prefer the smaller stores myself.p

Today I took my car to the car wash to clean outside , usually it's £10 but I was told to pay £14 instead, I asked the guy why , he said because the car is not OK so I assumed because the car might slightly dirtier but that's not an excuse .

I will never use this car wash again and also will not use this tesco brach ever again including the petrol station.
