Lidl in Pickering, always clean and fresh. People respecting social distanceing even though the shop was busy. Lovely fresh fruit at good prices, my favourite was a persimmon but will enjoy the prepared pineapple and watermelon later.
Thank you Lidl for selling so much British produce and the cheery lass at the checkout.

Returned an item to Thirsk store this weekend, I hardly ever go into this store as it is so depressing. Staff work on a go slow, it seems as if it's an effort just to reply to a question. The staff member who helped me first had to clear his que at the till. When I asked if they were short staffed he acknowledged they were. He look so down trodden and sad that I left feeling depressed that he had to work there. As a retired manager of a super store in South Africa that covered 2 acres, with over 300 staff, I was shocked at how low moral was and wondered how companies can be so unsupportive of staff. You only get out what you put in. I am a true believer in happy staff, good productivity and great profits. Have big companies forgotten who makes there stores places where people want to go and spend there hard earned cash? In this economic crisis you would think employers of people who are on the front line would appreciate there staff a lot more. This store needs a good evening shift for shelf packing and facing up, more casual staff to assist with check out or auto checkouts which are more cost effective. To the CEO Gerd Chrzanowski and it phantom owner Dieter Schwarz, it is obvious that staff are on the lowest rung of the ladder where priorities are concerned and that you are taking advantage of people that need to work in these shops to support families in these sever economical times. Yes you may meet the bare criteria of what is needed to employ people, but you are really out of touch where staff are concerned. This is only my opinion of course. I would like to challenge you, Dieter Schwarz, to raise up your staff and instead of being a recluse and a fabulously rich man who will never be able to spend your nett worth in your life time make your stores the best they can be, as they do have a load of potential.

Great fresh produce. Need to get more no alcohol wines in. Other items were cheaper than usual supermarket but just as good. Saved over £20. Well chuffed
