National Tyres and Autocare - a Halfords company

While on holiday our car tyre was punctured by 2 nails.

We had so much trouble getting the rental company to approve the replacement. The guys here were very patient with us over the course of 2+ hours as we asked again and again to check for the approval.

Cant imagine I would have rather gone anywhere else. Thank you!

Had two (!) punctures in one week, had to get two new tyres quickly. Managed to order one day at 5pm and have them fitted the next day at 3pm. The person who attended me was courteous and did the job in no time. Highly recommended!

Halfords have turned out to a big waste of money and time! I left the car there for a service for hours, only to return to be told they had not done it due to lack of parts. They promised a free wheel alignment as compensation and rebooked me.

I returned again two weeks later for the service and went away for several hours. Again got a call and they sounded like they still were having trouble getting parts. Luckily they did manage to complete the service by the end of the day.

Then they told me they couldn't give me the promised free wheel alignment as the ball joint on the axle needed to be replaced. However they couldn't do it right now, because (you guessed it), no parts.

The guy working there promised to call me later in the week and quote me a price to replace the ball joint and then do the free wheel alignment. I never heard back from him. I called them back again after a week and the person that answered the phone acted like he didn't know anything about it and said he would find out and call me back. He never did.

2 weeks later I went to the other Halford in Oxford (Cowley) to get my MOT done. They failed the car and said they would make the repairs. Three hours later they called to say they did not fix anything at all due to (guess what) lack of parts. They said they would not be able to do any repairs on it for another 4 days due to lack of staff and parts.

Come on Halfords! Pull yourselves together! You are losing customers now. You've lost this one!

I’m really disappointed in this company. My daughter is only 18. She paid with her own money to have a service done, knowing very little about cars as she is a new driver. She now lives down in Oxford which is miles away from home. Due to the distance she travels to come home regularly, we try and keep the car in good working order. We found out on her returning to Norfolk that an important pipe had been left unattached and a clip left hanging off her air intake pipe. She had been driving around like that for a good few weeks before she came home and it was only due to a warning light coming on that I had asked someone to look. I called the branch when this was discovered with my concern and had a call back from the manager. He assured me he would investigate and get back to me. This never happened !!! Really poor customer service and a real worry for a young girl who wants to be safe while on the roads and for me as her mum.

Recently had my exhaust replaced here before an MOT. It turned out to be a lot more awkward than first expected but Shane was excellent and made sure to finish the job to a great standard for a good price.

Extremely good customer service. Helped with my a lot of details and tips to get the car repaired quickly and effectively. Neat and friendly atmosphere. Mot service was quick. Busy in times. Completely booked most of the time and needs advance bookings.

Very disappointed - got a nail in my tyre and stopped for a quick repair….not to be, 6 days was the soonest I was told that the puncture could be repaired? I would have understood if the staff were run off their feet but sadly no one working in the tyre section, 2 mechanics chatting over an open engine bay outside and the last one having a smoke! Staff more than happy to send me to a competitor who made a plan and sorted it immediately for me! So, National Tyres off the list and will be using your competitors from now on! The star is only for the referral, thanks for that.

I have been scheduled for a tyre purchase and fitting Friday, at a quarter to 5. When getting there, the three guys effectively working in the tyre shop burst outside and snapped at me that no fitting was to be made that day as one of their colleagues has got a heart attack. That moment I've noticed an embilance parked next to their premises. I have not seen it before as no lights were turned on, neither blue or regular ones. And, in deed, one of their colleagues, from the front office or maybe the owner, older than 70 in my opinion, had just exited the side door on his feet guided and supported at times by a paramedic. By the other hand, it looked that all the other ones took profit out of the poor guy's medical condition by shortening their work schedule and showing themselves very impacted by the event. Nobody seemed available to take care of the client, regardless how far that client came from, no rescheduling, no excuse, totally unprofessional. One more thing: I've tried to appoint a switching of front wheels with back wheels and reverse, beside the replacing of front offside tyre only. Can you imagine that wheels rotation is not possible because they "don't two jacks"? Should they have only one Jack, who's got more jacks?!? So, to paraphrase the song, if "she's got the jack", she can open a tyre shop? 😀
