Lovely walk to and from old Gorhambury house, home of Francis Bacon. The walk along a private road was around 2 miles long. It was lovely on a lovely day, lots of people cycling and dogs being walked.

Didn't see any renovations going on, not sure why they don't at least open a room or two for visitors. Maybe at least let people walk around the house instead of putting private property signs everywhere.

Tough times with people looking for healthy contagion free outdoor activities and rich landowners (Sir John Grimston) and/or the authorities don't seem to stepping up.

The guy is a career banker so maybe not surprising.

The permissive footpath past the house was closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic today. While the landowner is completely within their rights to do so, it does seem rather disingenuous to put it down to coronavirus. Pandemics are not spread by a few people out for a stroll in the countryside but by masses of people bottled up in towns who can't get to remote places because access has been denied. A selfish move by people who while happy to clap nurses and carers, but don't want them strolling past their house, enjoying the beautiful scenery and decor on their days off from saving people. Shame.
