Britain's heritage in Kingston upon Thames! You need to get some info about it from the museum in order to really appreciate what is basically a lump of roughly shaped stone, however, if you can read Roman numerals, the names and dates of each of the Seven Kings crowned here are recorded on the supporting Base.

Great piece of ancient Royal British history, and many locals don't even know it's there.

Believed to be the Coronation Stone of seven early British Kings prior to the Norman Conquest. The Kings Stone explains the name of the town it’s in.

The plaque outlining the story of this stone needs a clean, it's pretty hard to read some of it. Otherwise worth a quick stop if you're in town.

The stone on which the first English kings were coronated. Now housed outside the Kingston upon Thames town council buildings.

Interesting passing point to see if you like history - where seven (or eight?) kings sat for their coronations at St Mary's in Kingston (the stone was moved when St Mary's fell down in 1730 but you can still see where the church was) . Right next to Clattern bridge too which dates from before 1293.

If you want to see the relocated coronation stone for some pivotal Anglo-Saxon kings who established England as the longest standing unitary nation state, this small parcel of land between Kingston Guildhall and the police station is the place to visit.
