Be extremely careful in Hackney, even though the trend is to build new flats for the young and rich that want live in trendy places like Hackney. The fact is that half the population of Hackney live under the poverty level. And some will rob and commit crime on you for their needs. You can’t make a silk purse from a sows ear, This a true saying that fits Hackney. I speak with 57 years of living experience in Hackney the area , Victoria park & london fields

LET ME TURN LEFT! please, for f**ks sake just open the new stairs you've built. Only a handful of zip ties stand between me and not needing to do a Zoolander down the stairs to transfer to Hackney Downs.
EDIT: Thankyou for the stairs, but as the first decent rains of the season are upon us, please fix the puddling problem half way down the stairs. It gets quite deep and goes all the way across.

It's an okay station, unfortunately their machine who take cash don't work, you have to walk to hackney down to buy a ticket with cash and then return to hackney central.

I lived here for 9 years it I love it 😀 😍 ❤️ it has a real diverse population and plenty of great shops , overground Station so you can easy get to different locations in London 🙂

London Overground railway station in the centre of Hackney. As a first time visitor I was concerned about the lack of directions to the other Hackney station referenced on the map and also the apparent lack of lifts to take you from one platform to the other.

Like most Overground stations that connect two lines, Hackney Central is super convenient (although it’s not immediately obvious if you’ve never been here before, there is a direct walkway linking it with Hackney Wick in 2-3 minutes).
Especially interesting is that the old station building is now a bar, restaurant and nightclub! I will say that means the “main” station entrance is now a mildly creepy alleyway, but that doesn’t seem to bother anyone.
