We had a fantastic experience with Practical Car Hire at High Brooms. We had a great no-frills vehicle for a week at a really unbeatable price. Often it is hard to get an automatic vehicle in the UK, but practical had them available, and at a similar cost. The vehicle pickup location is very convenient - just 5 minutes walk from High Brooms train station (only 40mins on the train from London Bridge).

The service was friendly and efficient when completing the paperwork, and the briefing on how to use the vehicle - from turning it on to how to open the petrol cap - was the most thorough I have ever received. This is a big deal for someone who doesn't own their own vehicle and is constantly renting; you would be amazed at how many different ways car companies have invented for putting a vehicle into reverse or turning the fog lights on, for example, and it was genuinely nice to have someone explain this.

Would definitely recommend, and will likely use again!

We used Practical Car & Van rental when we relocated back to the UK where we rented multiple cars, and vans over a two month period. Steve and his team were simply awesome, always professional, always accommodating and always at fair prices. Highly recommended.

Rented a small van for 4 days. Initial rental was no longer available but was given an upgrade for the same price. The guys in the office were very helpful even when I was running late on returning the vehicle. Great rates too. Will be returning! Thank you

Unfortunately had a mixed experience this time. Steve was efficient, friendly and helpful, the van was in top condition and he got us on our way quickly with no hassle. So top marks so far. But we booked for 2 days over the weekend and when paying I mentioned that we would try to return it at noon that day i.e. in 3.5 hours and he said that's fine, but didn't mention that if we did manage to return it that we'd still be charged the full 2 days hire. I naively assumed that like every other rental place, you only get charged for what you use - but this doesn't apply at the weekends with Practical. So just be aware of that. Otherwise they are great.
