Google wouldn’t allow zero stars unfortunately. As NHS workers money has been tight so shopped around to find a cheap hire van for a house move. Went for the cheapest option of Linden, what a mistake. My non-English girlfriend filled the online form in, and a so-called family friend on reception quickly got me to ‘sign here, here, and here’ without explaining any insurance waiver options. I scratched the side of the van, and sent a photo to him straight away. A couple of days later I get a message saying I need to pay £1000 excess! After unprofessional texts from him, I was sent a message from my own father saying he doesn’t want anything else to do with it and they’ll take me to court if I don’t pay. I could not believe that they had even mentioned anything to my family, I’m 39 not 9! I was then contacted by the lady who works in accounts, demanding payment and threatened me with court again. I asked her why I wasn’t given the option of the £15 waiver insurance they offer, and she said I was when the form was filled in on line. I said that English isn’t my girlfriends first language. No one mentioned anything when I picked the van up and was I told to sign the form. I explained that I’d hired cars abroad etc and they ask him over and over if you want their own insurance to cover damage, but wasn’t offered anything here. I asked her in future if they could mention this to other unfortunate customers so they’re not in the same predicament as me, but she said ‘they wouldn’t do that because that’s how we make money’. I am absolutely disgusted with the way they treated me, and other potential customers. A £55 van hire has now cost me £1055, and lots of upset for me and my girlfriend, over something that could have been solved easily. Please pay the extra £5 to hire elsewhere. Read other reviews on here because you’ll see I’m not the only person that’s been affected.

Update. So I emailed Paul at Linden asking for the final invoice of the work done to the van as a tax receipt for the £1000 I paid for the fixing it. His reply was “We can’t supply you the actual invoice from the garage as your contract is with us and not the repairer, I will send you invoices we have relating to hire charge & damages.” I then replied asking if they’d actually done any work to the van. I was ignored. Please see the photo as to the reason I was ignored..£1000 for a piece of tape covering the scratch!!! I saw the van parked up 2days ago and took photos. Absolute con-artist cowboy company.
