I contacted Ute on Tuesday evening - I had concerns about my JRT Coco. Coco is 9 yo and has several health issues.
So, I’ve sent a picture of my dog getting really skinny in just few days. She was also really tired, didn’t want to go for walks, didn’t want to eat. Ute replied immediately, that she wants to see her ASAP. Came to the practice first thing in the morning, we were not booked but the staff fitted us in between other patients. It was an emergency. We did blood test straight away, followed with urine test. Coco was diagnosed with diabetes. I know what diabetes is, but never had to deal with this myself, never had to look after someone with diabetes, so I was in shock and got really scared. Leonie explained everything in proffessional way, using simple words. She showed me how to make injections and how to use glucometer, what to do `IF...` etc.. so now I am able to keep everything under control. I got all of the medications for Coco and some leaflets in case I don’t know what to do.
We visited the surgery the next day, for a check up. Coco improved really quickly. Based on the results Ute decided to slightly adjust the amount of insuline.
It’s not the first time vets at West Malling saved my dog’s life. Keep on doing the great job!
Coco is getting much better which is the most important thing in this story!
I would never use them again I have now registered my other dog else where and he has be put onto antibiotics because of the same condition at no point was the question even ask was she around another dog..
I'm so angry and there not cheap either.. 😠👎👎
My 14-year-old Dalmatian is still with me and enjoying a comfortable life. This is largely due to the skill, care, and devotion she has received over the years from Abbotsley Veterinary surgery in West Malling. Namely Peter, Ute, Tiffany and the wonderful team of nurses who have gone above and beyond in their duties of care to Apple throughout the years. (Peter, saving her life when she was diagnosed with epilepsy at 10 weeks old) And although Peter has now sadly retired thankfully, Ute with her twenty years of experience and skill as a surgeon has remained at the surgery.
Apple is now feeling her age, and when her back legs began to fail, I feared the time had come to say goodbye to my best friend. That is until once more Ute came to the rescue. Seeing my distress she assessed Apple and drawing on her knowledge administers a new drug called Librela. Joyfully it worked and Apple is still with me and doing well.
I’d like to thank Ute, who is a great friend to myself and Apple.
Joined petplan for a very good price each month for excellent services included unlimited vet appointments, flea and worming treatments and vaccinations as well as other benefits.
Seen on time had a full health check and vaccination lovely vet, answered any questions was gentle and patient.
Cannot fault anything from start to finish highly recommend
More recently when I sadly had to say goodbye to my elderly cat the team were impeccable in both their handling of her and the treatment of me (who was clearly struggling) throughout the whole process. I have no faults at all with this place. I'll be using their services for as long as possible.
Thank you all at Abbotsley if you're reading this!
