Cogges Veterinary Surgery

Very friendly and professional practice. I have always been able to get an appointment quickly and I have never had to wait long when calling the practice. The reception team is friendly and happy to answer all questions and they have a handy dispensary outside if you only need to pick up a prescription or pay for something.

Their pet plan covers a wide range of services and vaccinations and they remind you of upcoming prescriptions such as flea/tick and worming medication so you'll always remember to order more when needed.

The vets are very friendly and great with the pets. They always try to make sure my dog is not too scared and take time to calm him down before examination. I feel like we're in very good hands with them.

Wonderful vet surgery with lovely reception staff, vets and nurses. My two cats feel in very safe hands with them. Having owner animals for almost 20 years now, Cogges is by far my favourite veterinary surgery I've visited.

Hello there, i wish i wrote this review when this event took place but i never did..... it was back in 2018.... Cogges vets had a good reputation (so i had heard) and i suggested my partner to register her dog there. When he first went to the surgery for a check up my partner felt that they were not experienced in larger dog breads and seemed inexperienced with our dogs breed?.

Her dog had to be sedated due to being scared of his yearly injection and check up at Cogges and being a large dog he can be intimidating to non confident staff.... We were told that he would be back with us around lunch time, bare in mind he went in first thing in the morning. We were called to collect at 6pm!!

These pictures show what he was like. He also smelt very strongly of urine and looked incredibly stressed. We gave permission for a member of staff to trim some matted fur on his legs as due to his triple coat and cross breed he fails to shred his fur fully and even with home grooming he sometimes needs extra attention. When he arrived home i was stunned at his red raw and bleeding skin... for one you never fully shave a dual or triple coated dogs fur back to bare skin, but the soreness of the big guy was just ridiculous. I was given some excuse about clippers, then something about staff.... but over £300 paid......I showed these pictures that accompany this review to a professional dog groomer who was stunned by what they saw, truly stunned.... especially as Cogges has a good reputation.

I feel they had little knowledge of our dogs breed, i do believe his treatment in their care was not good.... i wish if they were unsure of how to handle or deal with him, they could have said?.... but they seemed happy to take my partners money (if you don't pay you don't get your animal back).... Safe to say we never attended again and our dog has found a very friendly and helpful vets and staff in Woodstock and they handle him with ease... very confident and very helpful... Again, its a very late review, i do not like to be critical like this but seeing these pictures again made me realize that i should have posted a review at the time.... Its possible that Cogges Vets has changed a lot since this review and i appreciate that.
