Medivet Merthyr Tydfil - Ash Veterinary Surgery

Vets are great. Unfortunately the admin staff are very lazy and have yet to complete our insurance claim form over a month after we paid out of our own pockets for treatment. This review will not be editted until the insurance claim form is completed and we receive the itemized bill we requested a month ago!

Miraculously, they managed to send the itemized bill! Only took two negative reviews and an email to the reviews email address they put as automatic response on here and trustpilot. Currently awaiting the form to be emailed across to us so we can send it off.

An hour and a half later, 3 angry phone calls, 2 negative reviews and a complaints email later, we finally received the completed insurance form and the itemised bill. We tried to be patient after being informed for 3 weeks straight these will be sent "tomorrow".

I do not like losing my temper. Unfortunately it was necessary to get the admin staff to do their job otherwise we'd still be waiting. This complaint is with the regional manager. Hopefully something will come of this and the admin team will get the training they require to do their jobs efficiently and highlight to the upper management that they need to hire more staff.

I can’t recall ever having a positive experience with this veterinary practice. Having a frenchie, I was at the vets probably far more often than most other breed owners. I have had many many negative experiences with this practice but I’ll share a couple. I was told a few years ago that my dog would need ear canal surgery when he just had a simple ear infection which cleared up with antibiotics. I was also told last year when my dog suddenly became very wobbly on his back legs that they suspected he had a herniated disc, they gave me pain relief and told me to come back a week later. I came back the next week and there was no record of my previous visit the week before and I had to explain to a different vet everything from the beginning again (so basically a whole week wasted). This vet said they also suspected a herniated disc (which I had already been told a week earlier!) and he would arrange x-rays (which don’t even show up herniated discs!). My dog was then referred to Langford Vets in Bristol (who were amazing) and he had a CT scan confirming that he had a spinal tumour & cyst. The aftercare from Langford was brilliant, they were always available to ask questions, meanwhile Ash Vets could barely get my medication prescriptions correct. The reception staff don’t seem to have any people skills or to be animal lovers in any way. Bringing your beloved pet to the vets is usually a stressful task anyway, never mind when you are treated poorly by the staff. I unfortunately had to have my best friend PTS last week and I used Mobivet who treated him with the dignity and respect that he deserved. I would not recommend this practice and will never be using them again.

Receptionist and nurses are very helpful and friendly. The vets are also very good

Ash vets has always provided excellent care for my dog 🐶 Lorenzo has been amazing with her treatment thank you.

The vet was very good and friendly and I felt he cared for my puppy the staff was friendly and I would recommend this practice

I rushed my cat down without an appointment as she was on deaths door. The staff were amazing. They stayed working on her for over 2 hours, way past closing time. They really went above and beyond for my girl. If they hadnt been so amazing my girl would be dead. I highly recommend this practice, they truly care for the animals welfare.

Multiple disgusting experiences with this place!! Still refusing to send insurance forms off 3 months later, as far as i could see she was only in it for the money, absolutely no compassion what so ever! Also just took my perfectly fit and healthy young rabbit to be neutered today and recieved a phone call 45 mins after dropping him off to be told "just to let you know he's dead" what kind of customer service is that!? Went to pick him up and was left in a room with him alone whilst they were all outside laughing and joking, no explanation, nothing, i will never in my life use this practice again!!!! Absolutely useless and disrespectful vets.
