Great place to walk around, sight-seeing, enjoying views of lochs (lakes), Canal & its locks.
Several fine cafes for snacks or meals, or just coffee & cakes.
Good for kids: lots to see & plenty of room to run around.

If you expect to see a visitor center - it is a few small walls with pictures and some explanations, nothing more.

Outside there is the canal with the cells to lower the boats - a beautiful sight to see how it works.
Across the bridge there are various sailing options.

Great coffee. 3.5£ for a latte and 2.9£ for an Americano. Chicken burger 9£. Food is expensive but then you are in UK..

Interesting information about canals. Café type dining with snacks and drinks. Very busy with visitors looking around the gift shop. Nice view of the locks

We stayed at the Lock Chambers for one night and it was the best hotel experience on our week long trip through Scotland so far!! Rooms are very nice & cozy & clean with an amazing view. Staff of the Canal Centre was so nice! Check in usually isn’t before 4:30pm but we had to come earlier because of car problems & the woman went up to check if our room was ready and we were able to check in 2 1/2 hours sooner.
100% recommend!!!

It’s situated at town Center just on the opposite side of the road to Loch Ness.
It’s a good coffee shop- decorated with traditional Scottish way.
Good variety of foods available- both hot and hard drink options available.

Great cafe with absolutely delicious food. My wife and I stopped for breakfast and the haggis I ordered was among the best haggis I have tasted. The shop you enter through en route to the cafe great also, selling some great Scottish produce and traditional themed Scottish goods.
There is also a brief history/factual diagram on the cafe wall about the Caledonian canal for any history buffs.
