You would have to be unbelievably hard hearted and without feelings not to be touched by this lovely memorial to the Animals who served the British people and their Allies over the centuries. This in a small way is a fitting tribute to their memory. Well worth a visit and some contemplation.

Gorgeous monument commemorating the sacrifice of animals, large and small, employed by British and Commonwealth forces during the Great War.

The memorial is situated on a traffic island to the North-East of Hyde Park, not too far from Marble Arch and Speaker's Corner. Sadly ignored by the majority of people who walk past it, it is a stunning work of art that deserves to be appreciated by us all.

The idea of animal victims and suffer during the war is something selfundersta ding. But modern society is also aware of the parts of the world where animals still suffer even without the war. The poverty and misery are so accentuated that do not leave any space to consider animal suffering. It is about where human kids are hungry, ill, not protected and those things do not leave any space to consider animal victims 😭

A lovely memorial tucked away in parkland in the middle of Park Lane. The animals are beautifully portrayed and it’s impossible not to be moved by the role of animals in war. (Please don’t leave flowers but if you must lay them in front of the memorial wall and not on the animals themselves.)

Moving tribute to animals that have served, suffered and died in wars: Horses, donkeys, mules and camels carried food, water, ammunition and medical supplies to men at the front, and dogs and pigeons carried messages. Canaries were used to detect poisonous gas, and cats and dogs were trained to hunt rats in the trenches.

Nice that the animals that served their servicemen in WW2 have been given their own memorial. Not far from Marble Arch on Park Lane this memorial includes some nice stone work and statues or the animals used in conflict. Nicely done.

They had no choice reads in the memorial very true. This is the place to pay respect to all those animals that died in wars. Bless their souls.
