Unfortunately, there isn’t much to see and it wasn’t possible to enter the site as the low gate was locked. There is an information board on the site which gives the history. That the site has been preserved is good. Worth visiting if you are nearby.

This is the groundworks of a 40mm Bofors gun with an attached pillbox built in the late 1930s to protect the nearby Royal Ordnance Factory in Euxton. It was discovered during an archeological survey carried out in 2013 on behalf of Redrow. The decision was taken to protect the site rather than build new homes on it.
