We enjoyed exploring the grounds and buildings of Layer Marney. Lovely views from the Tower, Lunch at the tea room was nice, staff were very friendly, and the barn was set up nicely. The gardens were well kept with lots of space for everyone to play. All in all it was a good day out

Constructed in the first half of the reign of Henry VIII, Layer Marney Tower is in many ways the apotheosis of the Tudor gatehouse, and is the tallest example in Britain.

Now it’s a popular place for weddings, but probably only some specific classes can afford it.

Lovely day out. We visited during the kite flying event & my children enjoyed spotting the different characters. It was a very interesting walk to the top of the tower taking in the different rooms on the way. There is also a small children's play park & access to sheep/ chickens that my children enjoyed seeing too.

Harry Potter would definitely love this place. You can climb to the top of the Tower on certain days of the week so CHECK before you go on the website or better by telephone. Don't forget to see the goats. There is a also a church. I think I will get a room here.

Awesome venue for weddings it has two areas which suit most styles. A newly refurbished barn and a galley right next door. The towers are amazing for photographs on your big day and the staff are spot on, friendly and professional. The choice to have food suppliers in the court yard for your evening food and make use of the barn and galley if you would like, makes this venue very unique.

This is truly a piece of Essex Architecture that should be shouted about a little louder. The building is absolutely beautiful and although it has obviously run out of money through various parts of it's life, it still remains architecturally stunning. If you are coming here to see antique furniture and historic pieces of art, this is not the house for that. At the top of the towers, there are some great views around Essex. The grounds are kept beautifully and there is some great space for weddings and parties. Come and support a beautiful part of Essex.
